Erin’s Hartley’s Lunchbox

Being 8 months old Erin doesn’t really ‘need’ a lunchbox. She doesn’t go to nursery or school yet. However, that doesn’t stop her from using one! Britmums and Hartley’s have challenged bloggers to share their healthy lunchbox ideas.  We were sent a promotional Hartley’s Lunchbox as part of the challenge. Erin and I go out and about most days and this means that I need to take enough food to last. Sometimes we can be out for a whole day and sometimes it can be for a couple of hours. The Hartley’s Lunchbox is big

Baby led weaning

When we decided to start weaning with Erin at 17 weeks we obviously started with purees. Baby led weaning wasn’t an option because she was so young. We started well before the recommended 6 month mark because of Erin’s reflux and it was definitely the right decision. At 8 months old Erin has her own ideas about food. She’s an independant little bugger! For the past month or so Erin has been showing so much interest in whatever me or her dad are eating. She looked desperate to have what we were having. Since that started

Summer Swimming

The summer holidays means that there are no swimming classes for Erin. When Erin first started her lessons just after Easter, she was not a fan. In fact, she hated swimming. Things are not quite the same 4 months on. Just before our lessons finished at the end of term, Erin was still unsure about swimming. Sometimes she would get through a full class. Sometimes she wouldn’t. She would still cry near the end of a class too now and again. At this point, I was unsure as to whether she would ever really enjoy

Why baby wearing isn’t for me

Before Erin was born I had looked at baby slings and carriers. I loved the idea of them. I definitely wanted to do baby wearing. Unfortunately, having an emergency section and another surgery a week later meant that I wasn’t even able to think about baby wearing. I hadn’t bought a sling or anything at this point. It wasn’t until Erin was nearly 3 months old that I bought the Closer Caboo NCT carrier. Honestly, I did not get my moneys worth. Erin and I didn’t go out on any long adventures with us. We

The Girl Who Doens’t Sleep

If you have been following me on Twitter lately, you’ll have probably seen me talking about Erin sleeping habits, or lack thereof. She is now known in our house as the girl who doesn’t sleep. Erin had a stomach bug a couple of weeks ago now and it threw off her routine. It is still completely messed up and I have no idea how to fix it. Erin no longer sleeps. John and I no longer sleep. It’s hell and I feel like a zombie. Apparently, according to loads of other mums I know, this is

The dreaded weight clinic

Something I have absolutely hated since being discharged from the midwives care and then no longer getting heath visitor time at home is the dreaded weight clinic. Apparently, just before I had to start going to these clinics at my local Children’s Centre, they were held every week. They were then changed to monthly. My town is pretty big and the first monthly weight clinic was packed! I got there 10 minutes past opening and it took well over an hour to get seen. Since then I have made sure to get there 15 minutes

Guest Post: What is Rhythmic Movement Training

Before Erin was even born I was interested in any class or activity that would maybe help her development. I’m always curious now as to why babies and children need certain things I love finding out more about these kinds of things. Today I have Samantha Henry on the blog, talking about Rhythmic Movement Training. Hi everyone, I’m Samantha. I’m a Rhythmic Movement Brain development consultant in training. Thank you Lyndsey for inviting me to guest blog. ‘Me, Him ,The Dog and a Baby’ is such a real blog reminding mums of real life and I’m so glad

Erin’s 7 month update

Where the hell has the time gone?! This is Erin’s 7 month update! It doesn’t seem like 2 minutes since her 6 month update. In the last month or so, Erin has changed so much. On the day that Erin turned 6 months old her first tooth popped through. She had been drooling and had teething pains for what seemed like forever. The tooth wasn’t there in the morning on that day but it was in the afternoon. Four days later another tooth popped through! This month Erin has also started to get a lot more mobile.
