As children get older they become harder and harder to buy for. The presents they ask for also seem to get more and more expensive. In this post, you’ll find plenty of gift ideas for children aged 6-8.

JD Bug scooter

Erin loves to get outdoors and go on adventures but sometimes hates all of the walking. The JD Bug foldable scooter is perfect for days out or trips to the park. This scooter comes in various colours, folds down to a really nice size and has a handy carry strap. The handlebar height is also adjustable so the scooter can change as your child does.

Nintendo Switch games for children

The Nintendo Switch is huge in our house and we’re always looking for new games to play. Sometimes Erin wants to play on her own or sometimes she wants us to play as a family. Outright Games have some really great titles this year, including Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures, Paw Patrol: Grand Prix and L.O.L. Surprise! B.Bs Born To Travel. With games and characters suitable for the whole family, they’re bound to result in hours of fun.

Fruit Bowl snack selection

We all know that the festive period can be full of chocolate and sweets, and as delicious as they are, it can all get a bit much. Fruit Bowl offers a great range of children’s snacks including Peelers, School Bars, Fruit Flakes and Unicorn Fruit Flakes, which all count towards your child’s five a day. Why not add these into a stocking this year?

Tikkers unicorn watch

If your child is ready to learn how to tell the time, and have their own watch, you need to make sure you get the right one. I love this Personalised Kids Unicorn Watch, available from the Engravers Guild. The cleverly designed, and easy-to-read watch face helps children to learn quickly and the unicorn design is bound to be popular.

You only need water to set your creations, being able to build in multiple layers if you want to. Everything comes in a handy box though so it’s easy to keep together.

History Heroes card game

If you’ve got a child who loves to learn about history then the History Heroes card game makes a great stocking filler. In the Kings and Queens version you have to guess which monarch is on the card in order to win it; ranging from Alfred the Great to Elizabeth II. Cards are illustrated and have great facts about each monarch.

Gaby's Dollhouse figures

Gabby’s Dollhouse is one of Erin’s favourite shows and she loves to sing along with the theme tune. This year there are some great themed toys available such as a house and additional Gabby’s Dollhouse figures. These are great sizes for stocking fillers or starter packs if you’re not sure about going for something more expensive.

E.T. toys

Although, E.T. came out before I was even born, it’s great for children around the age of 6-8 (and beyond). Erin watched it for the first time earlier this year and instantly fell in love. TOMY have some wonderful E.T. themed toys such as Pop Up E.T. and My Best Friend E.T. I know they’re going to be a huge hit with Erin.

The Christmas Doll

Step into The Repair Shop in this magical Christmas children’s tale about a very special doll.

When little Susan is evacuated from wartime London and sent to live with a family in the countryside, she doesn’t hold much hope for the months ahead. Then, on Christmas morning, she is given a doll and Susan thinks this must be the best present she has ever had. Yet standing here in The Repair Shop, thinking back on her childhood, she realizes that in fact the greatest gift was the kindness bestowed upon her and her ability to remember it always as she holds her precious doll close to her.

Well done Mummy Penguin

Mummy Penguin is off to find a fishy dinner for her family. She has to swim very fast, climb a slippery cliff – cu-crunch, cu-crunch, cu-crunch β€“ and even tiptoe past some sleeping seals… Shh! All the while, Little Penguin looks on in awe and says: β€œWell done, Mummy Penguin!”

The icy – and treacherous! – Antarctic landscapes are breathtaking in this funny and exciting celebration of all that mothers do, and all that mothers are.
