We had lived here for 7 years and didn’t even know about some of the fantastic places that were just around the corner. Since Erin started school and was back at swimming lessons for a while we just didn’t have much time at the weekend and this meant not getting out and about for a while. At the beginning of last week, just before the summer holidays ended we managed to get away for a couple of days to Norwich. This is really only down the road for us, being a 30 minute train journey away. However, we never seem to get enough time there and our day trips are always really rushed. Travelodge had a great deal at some point during lockdown where they offered hotel stays with 2 nights for the price of 1. We ended up booking two separate trips to Norwich (the other for October half term)
Although we live close to the Norfolk coast we tend to go to the same places most of the time. Cromer is our beach of choice mainly because it’s the closest and has a lot of nearby facilities for families such as toilets. However, a couple of weeks ago we stayed in Sheringham at YHA Sheringham, which was such a good base as a family. Being a non-driving family has meant that there are places in Norfolk that we love to go for days out but usually can’t go because of transport issues. Wroxham Barns is one of those places. I always thought we couldn’t go because we don’t drive but recently I figured out that with the help of a train and then a taxi, it would be possible.
