This week’s children’s book review is all about Go Wild In The Mountains. It was published by Nosy Crow and can be purchased on Amazon*.
This is the ultimate pocket-sized adventure guide to all the fun you can have in the mountains: rock climbing, pitching a tent, tracking mountain animals and much, much more! Children will also learn exactly what not do, from being attacked by mountain lions to getting caught in an avalanche. With interesting information about navigation and mountain sports, safety tips and even a fun quiz, this is the perfect book for young mountain adventurers!
After the last year, I think a lot of us have been outside exploring a lot more than we might have done before. Depending on where you live you might be lucky enough to have mountains nearby to explore (I wish we did). It’s so important to teach children how to explore different places safely and also to learn about their surroundings which is why I wanted to share this book, Go Wild In The Mountains, with you.
Go Wild In The Mountains is full of so much great information, even starting with teaching children what a mountain actually is. Children can be full of questions so I thought that this was a really good place to start. When I first opened this book I thought it was going to be full of things to see and do while on a mountain but it’s so much more than that.
Not only is there educational information about the mountains themselves but there is a lot of safety information too. The book gives children different things to do and look out for while planning their adventure such as checking the weather, planning a time scale and also how to pack a backpack ready for a hike. Go Wild In The Mountains is really practical but not too overwhelming with information on each page.
This book isn’t that large so it’s a good size to be able to take out with you, rather than be a book to sit and read at home. This is great for some of the pages such as learning how to do knots as it’s something children might not remember and need to look at on their adventure.
There are other books in this series such as Go Wild At The Seaside!
