This week’s children’s book review is all about Mother and Daughter Dress Up Dolls – Fashion From Long Ago by Gracie Swan and Felicity French. The book was published by Nosy Crow and it can be purchased on Amazon*.
In this beautiful, hardback book, children can dress up dolls and learn about fashion through the ages.
Press out the 8 mother and daughter dolls, attach their foot stands, then pick which of the 40 historical outfits to put them in, using the easy fold-down tabs, before adding a hat or headdress and sticking on some accessories. From kirtles and crinolines to boots and bell-bottoms, there are decades of different outfits and eras to explore!
I remember when I was growing up I would have sticker books where you could add costumes onto people and create scenes with them and I used to love them. When I saw this book, although it’s not the same, it really brought back memories and I thought it might be something that Erin would enjoy.
The book comes filled with quite a few different mum and daughter duos which press out. It’s really cute that they both have matching sets of underwear on as well (although different designs). The figured come with little stands as well which I thought was a really good idea.
Of course, the characters can’t be left in their underwear so there are sets of outfits to pop out as well. These are from various different periods in history such as Georgian or Victorian. These outfits are a really great way to talk about history with your children.
Not only does the book have lots of fun outfits but there are plenty of accessories too. No outfit is complete without them!
Mother and Daughter Dress Up Dolls – Fashion From Long Ago is such a fun and interesting book for children and the fact that it is educational too is even better.
