It’s been quite some time now since I was a book blogger but we are lucky enough to still receive a few books for review now and again. Sometimes, something seriously special gets sent and that was exactly the case for this book; Ten Horse Farm: A Pop-up Spectacular by Robert Sabuda. I hadn’t heard of it before but as soon as I opened that first page, I was wowed.
Turn the pages and discover the beautiful horses of Ten Horse Farm jumping, grazing, racing and resting. Can you find the grey, the dappled and the roan? What other animals can you find on the farm? Master pop-up artist Robert Sabuda’s three-dimensional horses are so life-like they nearly gallop off the page, making this the perfect gift for any young animal lover.
Each page shows a difference scene from the farm and they all feature horses, as given away by the name of the book! We see horses in various colours and situations, all doing something different. Each scene is beautifully created and is a joy to look at.
I can’t even begin to think about the work and thought that goes into a book like this but I do really appreciate how beautiful it is. With Erin being only 2 and having already destroyed a fair amount of pop up books in her time, I think we are going to have to be very careful with this one to make sure it stays nice for some time. I’d hate to see this one broken.
Robert Sabuda has a whole range of pop up books for all ages and I can’t wait to add some more to our collection now. The question is though, which book to buy first?!
