A Visit To Sea Life Great Yarmouth

A Visit To SeaLife Great Yarmouth

AD | Gifted tickets

During our recent holiday to Haven Seashore we made sure we got out of the park for a day and headed into Great Yarmouth. After a really fun morning at the beach and then having chips for lunch we headed to Sea Life Great Yarmouth for the afternoon. Sea Life Great Yarmouth can be found on the sea front and right by Wellington Pier. We got the bus from Haven and there was a stop right outside so that’s really handy if you don’t want to walk the whole way (which is quite far).

When we arrived at Sea Life Great Yarmouth there was a little bit of a queue to get in but we were served at the front desk quickly and had our hands stamped so we could come in and out as we pleased for the rest of the day. We made a slow start through the entrance as there was a school group just in front of us and we wanted to let them get a bit of head start so everything wasn’t too crowded for us. It’s great that there are things to see right after buying your tickets.

Sea Life Great Yarmouth has a really great jellyfish section and it’s pretty magical to walk through. All of the tanks are colour changing so the jellyfish can be seen in a real rainbow of colours and they look different each time it changes. I think this section is a bit mesmerising but I really liked watching the jellyfish and so did Erin.

One of Erin’s favourite sections was the big room with the huge tank of rays. The rays were swimming around so happily with a lot coming up to the surface while we were watching. I think people tend to like the rays a lot because when you can see the underneath of them they have really cute faces! We spent quite a while in this room mostly watching the rays but there was other things to do and see as well.

Erin was really excited when she realised that she was able to touch a starfish, especially after we could see one big one really close up. This was the first time Erin had done anything like this and she was so interested to feel something really different and for the member of staff to be asking her questions about it.

One of my favourite sections at Sea Life Great Yarmouth was the penguins. I don’t know why but Erin wasn’t that bothered by them but it might have been more to do with the school group pretty much filling up the viewing area. This area isn’t very large so if there is a school group in there it might be worth holding back for a few minutes first.

Erin was truly amazed by a few of the different sections. She has a bit of a thing about crocodiles so spent quite a bit of time here. Another section that we all loved was the Ocean Tunnel. Here, you can see various sharks swimming over and around you as well as a huge Medusa head wrecked at the ‘bottom of the sea’. I think Erin’s face in one of the pictures below really says it all!

Something that we loved about Sea Life Great Yarmouth is that there was a lovely soft play area and a cafe, as well as a very well stocked shop at the end. As soon as Erin saw the soft play area she was gone and went off to find a friend to play with. Me, John and my Mum got to sit and have a relaxing drink while still being able to keep an eye on Erin. While we sat and had a drink we looked over the menu in the cafe and everything seemed really reasonable. Children’s meals were around £4 with lots of options and there was a range of hot and cold food available for adults too.

We had a really fun visit to Sea Life Great Yarmouth and would definitely take Erin again. I think with somewhere like this there is really something for the whole family, people of all ages, and there’s plenty to do and see. Why not pair your day out with a trip to the Hippodrome Circus in the afternoon?
