Growing up I was never really a watch kind of person. For some reason I just never really got on with them but now I realise that I don’t think I found the right one for me. I’m 34 now and my style and taste has changed quite a lot. I love silver or white gold jewellery and what I wear is very simple. I needed a watch that would fit with this and I found one at Nordgreen.
I’ll be honest, I hadn’t actually heard of Nordgreen before. They’re a company based in Copenhagen (somewhere I’m hoping to visit in 2022) and their name comes from their Nordic heritage and also ‘green’ because of their mission to be sustainable. Nordgreen has the Give Back Programme, which allows customers to help to give back to one of three causes:
- Water for good – for each watch purchased two months of clean water are given to one person in the The Central African Republic.
- Educate the future – selecting this will give one month of free education to child in India
- Protect the rainforest – via Cool Earth, for each watch purchased, the buyer will preserve 50 sqm of rain forest in Latin America.
To make your choice, you find the identification number of your watch and input it on the website! It doesn’t take long and it’s great to be able to choose to do good!
Although you can search between men’s and women’s watches on the website, all of the watches are actually unisex. You will find each design in both the men’s and women’s sections but there are some differences to choose from. For example, you can choose between various sizes of watch face and the strap chosen could give the watch a very different look. I have the Philosopher watch in silver with a 36mm face but it also comes as a 40mm face as well.
Something I love about Nordgreen’s watches is that you can easily change the look. Nordgreen’s watch straps are interchangeable (specific to the watch size) and there are lots of options available. I have a 36mm watch and I could choose other straps such as in mesh, nylon or leather in a whole range of colours. This is a much cheaper way of changing the look of your watch without buying a completely new one.
I thought it would take me a long time to get used to wearing a watch again, after not doing so for so many years. However, once I had adjusted the strap (the watch comes with a handy tool) and got the fit right, it was really comfortable to wear. The design is really quite classy and would look great for any evening look. However, it’s also great for every day, which is when I’ll be wearing it the most.
