Orchard Toys: Animal Shapes Review

AD | Gifted item

Now that the weather is getting worse and we end up inside most of the day now, I’m always looking for new things to do with Erin. We’ve recently discovered Orchard Toys and they have such a great variety of activities for children starting at 18 months old. We were sent the Animal Shapes Game for Erin to try!

As soon as Erin saw the book she was excited! She already knows what a lot of animals are either by their real name or by what noise they make. She grabbed the box and started making pig noises and saying fish as these are two of the animals on the box!

Inside the box are 12 animal shapes made from a stiff cardboard. The shapes are all double sided and have a shape that can be removed from the middle. The shapes are all quite large and I think the perfect size. Erin is nearly 2 but these would be great for children aged 18 months as there are no little pieces and even the cut out shapes are large in size.

What I love about Orchard Toys is that they give multiple ways of playing with the game on the back of the box. With the animal shapes you could match the shapes, identify the colours, name the animals and also make animal noises! I think this really helps make a toy like this last because you don’t have to play with it the same way two times in a row!

I started Erin off with only a couple of shapes to see how she did but she picked it up straight away. 3 shapes definitely wasn’t enough and we were soon doing 6 at a time instead. Erin really seemed to enjoy me taking all of the shapes out of the animals for her to put back in. We played quite happily for about an hour just doing this but then she tried to eat the chicken so I figured it was time for lunch!

Orchard Toys Animal Shapes is a really lovely game for children of Erin’s age. We’ve had loads of fun with it so far and it’s a great learning tool as well as a toy! It only costs £7.50 too so would make a perfect present or stocking filler! You can buy Orchard Toys Animal Shapes HERE!
