6 Things I Love About Autumn

Out of all of the seasons I think autumn is my absolute favourite. Summer, especially this summer, makes me uncomfortably hot. I really don’t like looking like a hot, sweaty mess all of the time. Winter and spring can both be as bad as each other, depending on when snow decides to fall and the rain is usually horrendous. We have a really cold house so winter is not a good time for us. Autumn, on the other hand, can be pretty wonderful and here’s why: Hot chocolate I very rarely drink hot drinks but sometimes, when it starts to

My Work From Home Routine

Erin has been going to nursery for nearly a month now so it’s given me a few weeks to get used to her not being around for a couple of days a week. From February, she will be going Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:45 to 3:30. While I do still feel a bit lost without her, having spent near enough every single day of the past two years with her, it’s amazing how quickly you get used to it and get into a new routine. This year I joined the gym so on a Wednesday and Friday mornings I go

Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner (NV801UK) Review

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be the kind of person who really gets sucks into adverts on television, especially for things like vacuum cleaners. The adverts that always stand out for me the most are those for the Shark vacuum cleaners. I was so happy when we were offered the brand new Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner (NV801UK) for review. Of course, I jumped at the chance. On the day the Shark upright vacuum cleaner arrived I was literally bouncing with excitement. I know that sounds quite silly but I had heard such good things about this brand and couldn’t wait

What We’ve Been Watching: December

What We’ve Been Watching is a monthly feature where we talk about everything we’ve been watching over the past month. It might be something on Netflix, Sky or even just a DVD we’ve had for years but wanted to watch again. If we’ve been watching something new we’ll talk about that too! Nashville I don’t know why but we had recorded the series on Sky+ and for some reason, we’d stopped watching it 5 episodes before the finale. If you’ve seen the most recent series than you will know what happened just before this and maybe that was why! I

How We Will Be Spending New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve 2015 was one I will never forget. Well, actually, I can’t quite remember all of it to be perfectly honest but it was the day before my beautiful little girl was born. From then, New Year’s Eve was never going to be the same again. Even before Erin was born, John and I never really did anything on New Year’s Eve. I spent more than enough years going out to a pub or club or a party somewhere and I don’t really drink alcohol any more. Going out and celebrating at a party seems a bit pointless

Christmas Eve At The Beechwood Hotel

For years we had a tradition in our family that we would go out for a meal on Christmas Eve instead of having Christmas dinner! This meant we could focus our time on younger members of the family rather than someone being in the kitchen all day cooking. We don’t really get to do that any more though as my Mum lives 6 hours away and my sister… well, she’s in between places at the moment and currently lives with us. We haven’t spent a Christmas together as a whole family for years but this year is different. This year,

Christmas Day With The O’Hallorans

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are now relaxing a little bit to get over the madness! We had a wonderful family Christmas and was lucky enough to have my Mum, sister and BIL staying for a few days. It’s the first one we have all spent together in quite some time and even more special because Erin was so excited this year and really started to understand what was going on. Apart from Erin, we were all up at about 6:30 on Christmas Day and we had about an hour’s wait until she woke up. I

How to Feed Your Dog

You’ll have probably heard the saying “you are what you eat” but have you considered the fact this extends to our pets?  Whilst cats are a little more refined in their taste their canine counterparts are by no means the fussiest of diners. Whilst the topic of feeding your dog sounds simple enough, it’s easy to forget the impact food has on our pets and there’s clearly some lack of awareness given how many dogs are taken into vets each day due to what they have ingested; normally human food that has been given out of love from a caring
