Learning Resources Birds In A Nest Sorting Set Review

Learning Resources Birds In A Nest Sorting Set

Now that Erin goes to nursery 3 days a week and is learning so much we want to be able to encourage that at home. While we will still be doing loads of fun, crafty type play, and running around like lunatics, I want to help Erin to learn at home and Learning Resources is the company to help us with that! One of the sets we have been trying out recently is the Birds In A Nest Sorting Set.

The Birds In A Nest Sorting Set comes with 36 super brightly coloured pieces. You get six coloured bowls and 30 birds in six different colours. The birds are in little families so you get one Mummy (or Daddy) bird and four little baby birds to go with them. Each family of birds has it’s own nest which matches their colour.

At first glance you may think that the only way to use this set is to sort the birds out into colours and put them in their nests. While this is one way to use the set there are loads of other things you can do with it as well. Not only can you sort the birds out into the same colours but you could also:

This set is a lot of fun and even though it’s aimed at children aged 3+, Erin is more than capable of using it now at 2 years and 7 months and could have done so a bit earlier as well. The set really encourages early math skills like counting and sorting but also helps children to be imaginative with their learning. I have seen Erin use sets similar to this at nursery so it’s great that we can extend that and do something similar with her at home.

Fancy a different look at the set? Watch the video:

Erin has played with the Birds In A Nest Sorting Set so much since we got it. Learning Resources have so many great educational activities and toys for children and I have quite a few on my wishlist now.
