What We've Been Watching: October 2019

What We’ve Been Watching is a monthly feature where we talk about everything we’ve been watching over the past month. It might be something on Netflix, NOW TV, Sky or even just a DVD we’ve had for years but wanted to watch again. If we’ve been watching something new we’ll talk about that too!

TV and streaming

American Horror Story: 1984

From the very first series of American Horror Story (Murder House) I knew that I had found my show. I don’t think there has ever been anything like AHS before and I love how each series is different. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was about 1984. I love all things ’80s and this one really hasn’t disappointed so far. It’s like different slasher films all rolled into a TV series with an awesome soundtrack.

House

It seems like I’ve been including House in these posts for months and months. I am so happy to say I have finally finished all 8 series. Sometimes the end of a long series can seem like a bit of a let down but I was really quite happy with how House ended. Everything seemed to be wrapped up nicely and everything was well and truly finished.

New Amsterdam

I really needed a replacement medical drama after House ended and I had a couple of episodes of New Amsterdam recorded on Sky. I didn’t know too much about this one beforehand but from the first episode I was hooked. I’ve only watched 3 episodes so far as it only records once a week but it’s really quite different to the likes of Grey’s Anatomy or House.

Richard Osman’s House of Games

Last time my Mum came to visit we watched this for a whole week and I loved it. Then, the week after it just wasn’t on any more and I was so annoyed. When I noticed Richard Osman’s House of Games back on BBC2 a couple of weeks ago I text my Mum in excitement. This game show has the same celebrity contestants for 5 days and the rounds are really random and fun. I always find myself laughing at each episode and I can actually get some of the questions right.

Films

Creed II

I have a bit of a thing for Michael B. Jordan and I loved Creed. I had been waiting ages to be able to watch Creed II and I finally found it on Netflix. I loved it! It had the romance, drama and the boxing; everything I loved from the first film but I actually think I liked this one a bit more. It’s definitely a film I would watch more than a few times.

Toy Story 4

Toy Story is one of my favourite Disney series and I was so happy when Erin decided she actually liked it. She’s not really into animated films so I was quite shocked that she liked it. She’s watched Toy Story 3 more than the others but she’s seen pictures of Forky so we had to get the newest film when it was released (thanks Mum)!

I was absolutely not prepared for not only how much I would like the film but how emotional it would be. I won’t say more because I wouldn’t want to ruin it but it really was great.

So, that’s what we’ve been watching this month. What have you been watching?
