Celebrating a Summer of Disney Plus at Pergola Paddington

summer of Disney Plus event

As soon as we found out about Disney+ I had us signed up and couldn’t wait to see what we would be able to watch. Since the launch, there have been some amazing releases, new additions with Disney Star and plenty of originals to discover. Disney+ isn’t just for children either because there really is something for the whole family. Earlier this week I was so lucky to attend an event being held at Pergola Paddington, celebrating a summer of Disney Plus.

The event was a relaxed affair, starting with a rooftop celebration of Luca, a film we’ve enjoyed ourselves recently. We started our afternoon with a delicious gelato which was definitely needed with it being so warm that day. The setting in Luca was fantastic and this was brought to the event with a cute fishing themed swing and amazing photo backdrop paired with a red vespa. Well, Erin couldn’t wait to get on and pretend to have a ride. I think she’d have driven it home if she could have.

Downstairs the event was filled with wonderful areas showcasing other amazing Disney+ released for the summer such as Loki, Soul and Raya and the Last Dragon.

Food and drink was free flowing with bubbly, soft drinks and Disney themed cocktails available from the bar as well as a gorgeous fruit and pastry buffet which Erin headed straight for. More food was available from the Kumandra Cafe which served a Raya and the Last Dragon menu, as well as a rueben sandwich inspired by Soul.

As a blogger, I always try to spot something that would be great for a photo or an Instagram post. The Summer of Disney Plus event was filled with amazing photo opportunities. Not only could we take some fun photos upstairs but the Raya and the Last Dragon cut out was very popular and someone always seemed to be stood in front of it!

There was various different areas set up downstairs, each of which corresponded to one of the Disney+ releases being celebrated. Erin particularly loved the bowling game, which she went back to numerous times and the huge piano on the floor which was obviously linked to Soul. For the crafty, you could try to make a weaved basket/ bowl but it was a bit too much for Erin and she wasn’t really up for concentrating that much as we only tried late in the afternoon.

Entertainment was provided throughout the afternoon with performances from the London Community Gospel Choir and BBC’s Young Jazz Musician of the year, Deschanel Gordon. There was plenty of seating available if you wanted to sit and take in a performance but you could also hear it anywhere downstairs as well. We love a live performance so this was definitely a highlight for us.

A huge thanks to Disney+ for inviting us to such a wonderful event. Luca, Soul, Raya and the Last Dragon and Loki are all available now on Disney+.
