This week’s children’s book review is for Leap Frog by Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup. The book was published by Nosy Crow and it can be purchased on Amazon (AD).

Felix is lost. The jungle can be a scary place for a tiny tree frog, and all the strange noises are making him just a little bit jumpy . . . It’s time to find Felix a safe place to sleep . . . and might there be someone special to snuggle him down for the night?

Felix isn’t like most other frogs. He doesn’t live in water but instead, lives in a tree. Sadly, Felix is a bit lost and can’t find where he is supposed to be so he sets off on an adventure to find the perfect home for himself.

Leap Frog is a really lovely book full of adventure for one little frog. His journey takes him to lots of different places where he discovers plenty of different animals and where they live. As Felix is a tree frog he experiences a lot of new things on his adventure and it’s really fun to see what he might find or where he might end up as the story goes on.

Leap Frog has really bright and colourful pages, perfect for young readers. The images are large and there isn’t too much text so it doesn’t take long to read the story. Erin tends to get bored if stories are too long so I think the length of the text on each page is great.

Leap Frog really gets the reader involved as well which we loved. You are encouraged to help Felix along the way, figuring out what noises are and scaring off some bigger animals which may cause him harm. Of course, this kind of book does call for a grown up who will really take part as well instead of just reading through the story.

Leap Frog is a really fun story and one that we have enjoyed reading over and over again!
