Great Road Trips To Take In The UK This Summer

Great Road Trips To Take In The UK This Summer

We’re in the middle of some absolutely beautiful weather here in the UK and I know it might be too warm for some people but personally, I’m loving the heat! While it’s nice to stay home with all of the windows open I can’t help but think that there are some great road trips to take. Here a just a few ideas to keep you busy:

The Norfolk Coast

I may be a little bit biased here because I live in Norfolk but I think it’s such a beautiful place to visit, especially if you have never been before. There are so many different places to visit and depending on which part of Norfolk you visit, one place is completely different to the next. Somewhere I have wanted to visit for a long time is Wells-next-the-Sea but a personal favourite of mine is Cromer! There are beaches for everyone, even for dogs and I would be surprised if you didn’t fall in love with Norfolk once you get here!

Cornwall

If I could choose just one place to go on a road trip to it would be Cornwall. It’s a place I have always wanted to visit and never managed to get to yet. One of the biggest reasons why I would want to go is to visit and stay in the Headland Hotel. This hotel was the setting for the film adaptation of the Roald Dahl book The Witches. From the minute I saw the film I wanted to go to this hotel. I will make it one day I’m sure!

Of course, that’s not all there is to do in Cornwall though. You could go to Land’s End, St. Michael’s Mount or even spend the day in Newquay. Somewhere else I would love to go is the Jamaica Inn, made famous from Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name! I fell in love with the idea of the place when I read the novel a couple of years ago but I didn’t realise it was a real place until recently.

Scotland

I have been to Scotland many times but the last time was at least 7 years ago now, maybe longer. I’ve only ever been to a few places though and I would love to see more than Edinburgh, Stirling and the surrounding areas, even though they are beautiful!

If you’re a Harry Potter fan than Scotland is home to many beautiful locations used in the films. I know if we were to go on a road trip around Scotland then this would be my husband’s idea of heaven! Some ideas for places to visit are Glencoe, Eilean na Moine and Loch Eilt, Lochaber or maybe the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Although I’m not a massive Harry Potter fan, I would still love to go to these places for the views!

If you’re taking a road trip this summer with the family then you’re probably going to need a car with plenty of space to keep everyone happy. The new Audi Q7 could be just what you need for the perfect road trip to somewhere amazing!
