Even though Erin started nursery just a few days after she turned 2, she attended all year round for a while. It was only because we had to change which nursery she went to that it turned into just term time attendance. So, this summer was our first real summer holidays and I honestly didn’t really know what to expect.
I had a bit of money saved up before the summer holidays started and I carefully budgeted for certain days out. We had some plans in place and I wanted to make sure we could afford to do everything I wanted to. I put our money into separate envelopes for the different days out and this way I could make sure that I didn’t overspend or spend something we didn’t really have. At the beginning of the summer holidays I had planned to have some quiet days at home but this actually didn’t happen as we were much busier than I’d expected.
Things were generally a bit harder than I’d expected though as Erin ended up with some kind of infection and it meant that she wanted to wee every couple of minutes. We had to revert to taking our travel potty everywhere and making sure there was somewhere for her to go if she needed to. This obviously made any day out a lot harder than it should have been and it really did get to me a bit! Luckily, the infection is gone now thanks to a good dose of antibiotics.
Instead of writing about everything we did (which would take a very long time) I thought I’d show you what our summer holidays looked like in pictures. I’ll put headings before different places so you know where places are in case you want to visit yourself!

Although the summer holidays was a really mixed bag, we had some really great days out and loads of family time. I think I’m much better prepared for next year now and know that there will be things that we do differently; that’s for another blog post though!
