Since starting nursery at age 2 Erin very quickly developed a love for train sets. Her teachers would tell me all of the time that she played with the trains on most days so last Christmas we made sure we got Erin some of her own. Recently we were sent the Brio Farm Railway Set to try out!
What’s in the box:
The Brio Farm Railway Set comes with: 8x Curved Tracks, 1x Barn, 1x Engine, 1x Wagon, 1x Tractor, 1x Trailer, 1x Farm Level Crossing, 2x Fences, 1x Cow, 1x Hay Bale, 1x Cattle Road Sign, 1x Hay Bale
Suitable from age 3, I think the Farm Railway Set is one of the easier sets to put together. The box offers a suggestion for how the set should look but of course, you are free to put it together however you want. I liked that this set only has 8 track pieces because it stops it from being really complicated. Erin is able to put this one together on her own without any help.
This simple Brio train set comes with lots of wonderful accessories. Instead of only getting a train to play with this time you get an engine with a wagon and a tractor with a trailer, along with a bail of hay to move around. I think these accessories really help to bring a farm to life and for children to learn about what happens on a farm.
A farm wouldn’t be complete without at least 1 animal and this set comes with an extremely cute wooden cow with it’s own fences and a warning sign for crossing the road. Things like this are what takes this from being another train set to a really great play set. The cow is a great start to what could be a bigger farm with additional Brio items.
As all BRIO train sets are compatible you can either have this as a standalone play set or make up a bigger train set! This particular set provides hours of fun and is a great starter set or a wonderful addition to an existing collection.
