I know that people say that money can’t buy you happiness but I don’t necessarily agree with that. You see, money is a bit of a struggle for us at the moment and I know that having more of it would make us all that little bit happier. I’m a bit of a daydreamer and often find myself thinking about how having a nice sum of money would change our lives. I’m not a greedy person and I certainly don’t need to win millions but Lottoland’s Lotto Plus has prizes of different amounts and the second prize of around £50,000 would suit us perfectly.
School Fees
At the moment we are paying for Erin to go to nursery 3 days a week and she won’t get funding until April of next year. Her birthday is 1st January so she has to wait until the term after Easter for it to kick in. I think this is really unfair as the term after her birthday starts on 5th or 6th January. I know we could have waited for Erin to go to nursery but she wasn’t mixing with other children and she absolutely loves it there now. Anyway, because of this we have more nursery fees to pay for than I had anticipated and a win on the lottery would enable us to pay off everything right up until the funding kicks in, as well as putting some away for when she starts reception.
Home Improvements
The biggest thing on my list is central heating. We stupidly bought an old house with an ancient boiler and storage heaters. Our living room is roughly 25 ft long and impossible to heat in the winter. We have lived here for 4 years and and keep saying we need to start saving for a new boiler and central heating. As I’m sure any of you homeowners or parents will know, things either break or come up that need paying for first so we’ve never gotten around to it. I think I have £7 in a savings account and that’s not going to get us very far. Being able to pay for this really big home improvement would really make such a massive difference to our lives. Being able to actually be warm in winter is a big deal!
Of course, there are plenty more home improvements I would like to get done as well but central heating is the main one.
Holidays
What would a lottery win be without a good holiday. Out of that £50,000 I have already accounted for at least £20-25,000 but that still leaves a lot. John and I will have been married for 5 years this September and we would love to go back to Orlando, which is where we got married. Erin loves going on rides so I think she’d really like some of the areas in Disney and Universal and she really just loves to go on holiday. It would be a dream to go back to Orlando but just like the central heating, it’s out of our reach at the moment.
Less Stress
Working from home and being self-employed can be really stressful. At the moment I never know if I’m going to make enough each month to pay our bills and I hate the not knowing. I think I have been very lucky that in the just over a year that I have been self-employed things have managed to work out each month but that hasn’t been guaranteed. We did have an emergency cash fund saved up but then things broke in and around the house earlier this year so that money is now gone. How nice would it be to put £10,000 aside as a year’s earnings just in case something went wrong.
Having that kind of money would do life changing things for us and that’s not even the top amount of money you could win. What would you do if you won some money on the lottery?
