This week’s children’s book review is all about This Is Not A Unicorn. It was published by Nosy Crow and can be purchased on Amazon*.
This book is NOT about a unicorn! Well . . . OK, maybe it is! But THIS unicorn has a horn that can turn into the most incredible things – a magic wand, a helicopter, even a space rocket!
Join the hilarious adventure and prepare to be amazed by your brilliant new friend. With wonderful wordplay and a funny and sweet friendship at its heart, this is NOT a unicorn book to be missed! This fabulously funny story has stacks of appeal for both girls and boys – watch out for rockets, rainbows, helicopters, massive fish, ice cream sundaes and magical adventures.
Who doesn’t love a unicorn? Well, this book is definitely NOT about a unicorn. No, it’s about a magical creature who has a sparkly horn that allows them to shape shift into all different kinds of things. You must remember though, it’s really not a unicorn.
This Is Not A Unicorn is such a bright and colourful book and the images on each page are fantastic to look at. The story follows a little girl and her new friend as they play together and do loads of different exciting things. The (not a) unicorn is all different kinds of things like a spoon-icorn (spoon for a horn) or maybe a make-a-secret-wish-icorn (wand for a horn). We loved finding out what they would be next and what they would be getting up to together.
Erin’s at the stage now where she wants to play with her friends both in and out of school and we want to encourage her to use her imagination at these times. This Is Not A Unicorn is such a good book for that as it shows a girl having fun in all of these different situations. I hope Erin can use her imagination to come up with all kinds of fun ideas and adventures to have with her friends.
This Is Not A Unicorn is such a fun book and it will definitely have both you and your children giggling throughout.
