Supporting your child with their mental health

AD | Collaborative post A child’s mental health is really important to helping them grow and flourish as individuals. A child that isn’t sure what they can do to manage their mental health can potentially fall behind in class or not receive the right support for them to succeed. Fortunately there are plenty of things we can do to help our children – here’s a guide from a private school in London to help you manage your child’s needs.

Preparing Your Child For Their First Trip To The Dentist

Something I really regret is not looking after my teeth better. I spent month and months in and out of dentists having braces as a teenager and after that I just didn’t keep up the care. I had really lovely, straight teeth that I ruined over the years by smoking, drinking way too much coke and not going to the dentist often enough. We have tried so hard to get Erin into a good routine for brushing her teeth but if you have a child under 4, you will know that this isn’t always the

The First Broken Bone

Sunday here is a day where John and Erin usually go out for a few hours together and then play at home in the afternoon. This particular Sunday was really no different. John and Erin were playing upstairs together when all of a sudden I could hear crying and Erin saying she just wanted me. Just last week we had another scare and it came out of absolutely nowhere. On Tuesday I noticed that Erin’s voice was a bit raspy and it sounded like

Getting Erin Involved In The Kitchen

Erin is a fussy eater and some days it’s a real struggle to get her to eat much at all. Erin tends to stick to foods that she knows and likes such as cereal, fruit and the occasional sandwich. I guess we’re lucky in a way that Erin will eat yogurts, ham and plenty of fruit but we really struggle with meal times. A couple of weeks ago Erin got upset because I’d started making dinner one day and she had wanted to help. To be honest, this came as a bit of a shock

What to expect from your child’s 2 year health visitor review

Last week Erin had her 2 year Health Visitor review. Now, I know they don’t really do them spot on 2 years old but they’re supposed to be carried out between 2 years and 2.5 years. Erin had hers at 29 months so the timing was pretty spot on. She was actually supposed to have it a month earlier but we had to reschedule due to the first appointment falling on one of her nursery days. Before Erin’s appointment I really didn’t know what to expect so hopefully this blog post will come in useful
