We love playing games at home and since March we have been playing them quite a lot more. We’re always looking for something fun and different to play so when we were sent 5 Second Rule: Spintensity* we couldn’t wait to get going.
5 Second Rule: Spintensity is quite quick and easy to set up. You do need to add 3x AAA batteries into the spinner before you can get playing so this is the part that might take the longest. Luckily for us we have a box of batteries with small screwdrivers downstairs just for things like this so we were able to get going within only a few minutes. Once you have the batteries in the spinner each player chooses a coloured counter and places it on the start position. The aim of the game is to be the first person to move around the spinner and reach the finish position.
You start the game by pressing the spinner button and the first player takes a card. They must name 3 things mentioned on the card within 5 seconds and then press the button again if they do it in time. The spinner will then move around, giving another option. This could mean naming 2 or 3 more things, taking another card or passing the turn to the next player. 5 seconds isn’t very long at all though so you have to be quick to answer and then do whatever the spinner asks you to do.
There are 200 question cards and they are double sided so you actually get 400 different topics. As the game is quite quick and you can get through a good number of cards per game you do need a lot. The cards have one blue side and one green side too so that you can easily swap which topics you are answering if you run out or feel like you’ve done some of them before. Speaking of the topics we really loved how varied they were. Topics ranged from Beyonce songs to Political Leaders to things you find in a kitchen. We all had our own strengths and weaknesses and as we’re also different ages we found some topics more suited to us than others.
We had SO much fun playing 5 Second Rule: Spintensity. It’s a really fast paced game and the topics are harder than you might think. I like to think I’m good in certain areas but I found myself panicking and stumbling on things I definitely knew more answers to. It’s so funny to see people struggle so much too, especially if you could have answered yourself quickly!
