A Winter Wardrobe Boost From Fashion World

AD – This post is in collaboration with Fashion World. All opinions are our own.

Over the past few weeks the weather has really changed and it’s been freezing lately. Some parts of the country even had some snow although I’m very glad that we didn’t get any here in North Norfolk. If last year is anything to go by, we could be looking at worse weather still to come and this time I want to be prepared! Fashion World recently asked me to put together an outfit and I was quite excited about the challenge.

When I was thinking about what I wanted from a winter outfit I wanted to make sure I had everything covered… literally! It’s easy to put together a dress to wear or a simple pair of jeans but I wanted to put together something that not only went together but worked on their own as separates.

With the temperatures dropping I wanted to make sure I had a coat that would not only look great but also keep me warm. My old coat was a bit basic and boring and it wasn’t very exciting at all. I knew as soon as I saw this red check duffel coat that it was the coat for me.

I am 5’5 and the coat nearly comes to my knees. While I thought this might be too long initially I’m actually really glad for the extra length. Sometimes my thighs get so cold in winter and I haven’t had that problem since I got this coat. To ensure that this coat keeps you nice and warm, it has a zip, poppers AND toggles as well as a hood.

The coat isn’t as thick as I maybe would have liked but I tend to get quite warm easily anyway and I get too hot in bigger coats. I decided to team the coat with a chunky jumper in my favourite colour. This navy v-neck cable jumper is super soft, fits perfectly and I also love the length. I hate jumpers that don’t sit right but I think this one is really flattering thanks to the length.

Although I would love to wear dresses and tights every day they’re just not practical, especially when I have to do the nursery run in the freezing cold. You can’t go wrong with a nice pair of jeans and I chose the Sophia jeggings in indigo. I went for the regular length and they are just right on me. Even though I also picked a navy jumper, I like that the colour is slightly different and the jeggings also go really nicely with the coat.

Even in the middle of winter I am terrible for wearing my trainers. However, they’re really casual and as I didn’t have other options, it made wearing nicer clothes a bit tricky. I have wide feet and Fashion World sell loads of brands that offer wide and extra wide fittings so finding a new pair of boots was really easy. I went with the Cushion Walk Chelsea boots in black because they literally go with everything. I can wear these boots with jeans, trousers, dresses and tights and they were so comfortable from the minute I put them on. They also come in a couple of other colours, including brown, and I’m so tempted to buy them as well!

My whole outfit came in at around £150. Each piece can be used together and also as separates with pretty much everything else in my wardrobe.
