This week’s children’s book is all about Cosmic Creatures: The Friendly Firecat by Tom Huddleston. It was published by Nosy Crow and can be purchased on Amazon.

Cosmic Creatures. The Friendly Firecat

On a faraway planet, cute alien animals need help! Luckily, Charlie and her robot friend, Random, are ready for any rescue adventure…

Charlie is on a special trip to see the migration of the firecats, the fastest animals on planet Vela! But when rustlers start kidnapping the cats, the herd stampede, and a sparkly little firekitten is left behind. Charlie and Random must come up with a plan to stop the rustlers and reunite the baby firecat with its family before it’s too late…

Fans of Zoe’s Rescue Zoo and Holly Webb will love Cosmic Creatures! Beautifully illustrated throughout by Sophy Williams, Cosmic Creatures is perfect for animal-mad readers aged 5+.

Cosmic Creatures. The Friendly Firecat

A couple of weeks ago I shared a review for another book in this series, The Runaway Rumblebear, which was a really fun start to this new series to us. In this book, you can go back to planet Vela with Charlie and robot friend Random as they find themselves on another adventure. For children who enjoyed another book in this series, it’s nice to be taken back to the same setting but in different circumstances.

Cosmic Creatures. The Friendly Firecat

In this book we get to meet a new creature from planet Vela, a firecat… more specifically, a firekitten! Rustlers disturb a family of firecats and the little kitten is left behind. Children will love finding out more about firecats and waiting to find out if the kitten makes it back to their family.

Aimed at children aged 5-7, this book, and the series, is great for newly independent readers and also for reading with grown ups at bedtime! The chapters aren’t too long so children could maybe read 1 at a time before taking a little break so they don’t get too overwhelmed!

We can’t wait to see what creature pops up next on planet Vela.
