Mother’s Day is a pretty big deal in our house. Not because I’ve made a big thing of it but Erin loves getting excited about ‘Mummy’s Day’. Of course, the hand drawn cards and strange breakfast in beds are wonderful are what memories are made of, we still buy gifts and there are other mums to think about as well. Hopefully you find some inspiration in these Mother’s Day gift ideas.
The first thing to think about when it comes to Mother’s Day is making sure you have a card! When children are choosing a card for their Mum sometimes the options can be a bit boring or a bit too ‘grown up’. I know Erin wouldn’t pick many that you see in the shops! Luckily, Danilo have a great range of Mother’s Day cards with popular children’s characters on them.
Of course, it can be so easy to go out with children to buy a present for Mother’s Day but it might be more exciting to make something special. The So Bomb DIY Bath Bomb Factory Geode (AD) set makes some fantastic bath bombs that are really easy to make. Be sure to let Mum have a relaxing bath so that she can enjoy them though!
Not sure what your Mum or Grandmother might like? Gift cards are always a great option because there is so much choice. The VEX gift card is a multi-option card and can be exchanged for any voucher on the Voucher Express website. Retailers range from Primark to Argos to TGI Fridays so there is sure to be something for everyone!
Maybe you’re buying for a Mum who doesn’t live close to you. I know when my Mum lived quite far away us she loved to see pictures of what we’d been getting up to and how Erin was doing. The Nixplay Seed 10 Inch WiFi Digital Photo Frame would allow you to upload new photos as and when you wanted to and keep your Mum surprised by new photos!
If you’re planning on putting together an afternoon tea to share with your Mum then you need to plan for drinks as well. Pro Cook has everything you need with their Malmo mugs, matching Malmo cream jug and the stainless steel teapot. Sit back and relax with tea for two this Mother’s Day!
Any good afternoon tea will be able to offer a range of flavours. Nim’s Edible Teas have something really different and something really new to me. These teas are designed to be used with an infuser and once you’ve finished the tea, you can eat the rehydrated fruit and veg. There are various flavours available such as Pineapple and Kiwi and Beetroot and Parsnip!
Maybe breakfast in bed is more your Mum’s thing. Whether it’s breakfast in bed or together around the dining table, the Egguins Egg Holder from Red Candy is sure to add some fun to the meal. You can cook up to 6 eggs at the same time and serve straight to the table. You can even pop the whole thing in the fridge afterwards too if you end up with leftovers.
Something I don’t get to do too often, but really love, is to have a relaxing soak in the bath. It has to be hot and full of bubbles but sometimes I do miss having certain comforts to hand. Beautify’s bath caddy has space for a phone, book, wine glass and even a tray for all of your bath products as well, making sure you have everything you need for a pamper.
Sometimes a simple box of chocolates makes a fantastic gift, especially if you can get your Mum or Grandma their favourites. Guylian chocolates has everything from a classic box of ‘sea shells’ to the ‘Master’s Collection’. I would be so happy to tuck in to a box of these while relaxing with a film on the couch.
My family know that there is a certain brand of chocolate that I love. For me, the Cadbury Mother’s Day Treasure Box would be an ideal gift as it consists of a huge bar of Dairy Milk, small box of Roses and a selection of individual chocolate bars. I may actually share this one with my Mum this year!
At home, my make-up is a bit all over the place and stuck being stored in random tubs and boxes. Beautify’s makeup organiser has space to keep all of Mum’s make-up organised, with 4 pull out drawers (2 large and 2 small) and space on top for products such as nail polishes and lipsticks. The organiser holds loads and as it’s clear, it makes it really easy to find what you’re looking for.
I have to be honest and say that as I’m getting older, my skin isn’t what it once was. My hands get really dry, especially in winter and sometimes they just don’t look very nice. Leighton Denny’s Time Repair – Anti-ageing Hand Therapy nourishes and protects the skin as well as reducing fine lines!
I always think a pamper package is a great idea for Mother’s Day, as long as you also give the time to let someone enjoy it. Face masks are always a good addition to pamper and the BioMiracle’s vegan soothing glitter peel off mask soothes and hydrates and contains tea tree.
Let’s face it, as a busy parent we don’t always have time in the mornings to do a lot or get ready properly ourselves. As much as I would love to wear make-up every day I just don’t have the time or energy however, I would like to look a bit more alive and less like a zombie in the morning. The Milani Prep + Brighten Rose Face Oil (available at Boots) helps to nourish the skin, replenishes moisture and helps to give a youthful, dewy glow.
If your Mum, or Grandma, is a Disney fan then the Disney Britto Mickey Mouse Cookie Jar from Gift Giving All Wrapped Up would make a wonderful gift this year. At 24cm high, this cookie jar can fit a lot in so you might want to get your apron on and start baking! Who wouldn’t love a cookie jar filled with homemade delicious bakes?
I’m one of those people who feels lost without their phone; maybe the person you’re buying for is the same. I use mine a lot for work so it’s always close to hand. However, now that phones are getting larger they’re not all that comfortable to hold, especially for a long time. PopSockets can really transform the way you use your phone or tablet and they come in loads of different designs and colours. You can use it to hold your phone easier or use it as a stand while you watch your favourite TV show!
As much as I wish that I could afford to take my Mum on an exotic holiday for Mother’s Day, it’s just not going to happen. Instead, a pair of Havaianas could be a good idea. You could go for either sandals or flip flops and they are all super soft. There are so many different colours and designs available so you can go as bold or as plain as you like.
Jewellery can always be a good idea for a gift if you know what the recipient likes. The Kit and Kaboodal Abrielle Bracelet is fairly simply in colours that will match most outfits. The gold rings add a bit of sparkle, making it suit both day and evening wear!
These are lovely ideas for any Mum. I’m mentally adding these to my own wish list.
I love the afternoon tea set, it’s beautiful x
Lovely Ideas! I usually buy a voucher for Afternoon tea or a spa day! Obviously always flowers too! Caitylis x x
I love the bath caddy and make up organiser. Some lovely gift ideas here.
Bath caddy and chocolates sounds perfect, perhaps with a large glass of Chardonnay. Great ideas.
Those egguins are adorable. I have brought my mum a vase of handmade fabric tulips this year
This is a great list of ideas. I would like the jandals and the nixplay is a fab idea for mums.
Those penguin egg holders are the cutest! My mum lives in Germany, and Mother’s Day there is in May, so I always need to remember to buy a card etc here in the UK in March, when all the Mothers Day stuff is on sale, and then to send it in May.
I’ve always wanted one of those over-bath stands for my ipad and glass!!!
Oh wow so many great gift ideas here. I love the look of the cake stand – very cute xx
