What We’ve Been Watching is a monthly feature where we talk about everything we’ve been watching over the past month. It might be something on Netflix, Sky or even just a DVD we’ve had for years but wanted to watch again. If we’ve been watching something new we’ll talk about that too!

Grey’s Anatomy
Watching Grey’s Anatomy is a long running thing at the minute because my sister and I started watched from the very beginning a couple of months ago. This month we have been watching series 5 and OMG that ending!! A lot has happened in this series and for a while, I was sort of sad that there hadn’t been a good mid-season cliff hanger but now I know why. They were saving everything up for the series finale.
Most of the time we have already had the next series waiting for us to watch but not this time and I so regret that. I needed that first episode of series 6 straight away and I had to wait DAYS to see what happened. So, immediately after the finale finished I ordered the next 4 series on Amazon so that this won’t happen again. I don’t think it will take too long now to get caught up completely if I keep watching it as much as I have been.
The Resident
I started The Resident last month and loved the first episode. However, since then I just haven’t been that bothered about it. The biggest issue for me is that I don’t actually like or care about any of the characters. Conrad, one of the main characters comes across as a bad boy to not be messed with in the first episode but he’s just a bit wishy washy really and I could care less about him. The same goes for everyone else too and I think it’s really hard to spend time watching a show where you don’t care what happens. I think I may have to call it quits with this one.
13 Reasons Why
I said a couple of months back that I wasn’t as hooked on 13 Reasons Why as I thought I would have been. Well, that was series 1. Series 2 was released on Netflix in May and I managed to binge watch the whole thing in only 3 days. To say I was hooked from the very beginning would be an understatement.
This series seems to have gotten a lot of bad press because of it being too graphic and including topics that are far more controversial or dangerous I guess than in the previous series. Now, I won’t go into the storyline because this is such a new show and I know not too many people will have watched it all yet. What I will say is that I actually didn’t mind it being so graphic. Okay, some scenes were especially hard to watch but I think it’s important to make people aware of things that can happen. There has also been negative reactions because of the outcome of some parts of the story and honestly, I thought this part was fantastic. Not only does it not sugar coat what could happen but it also shows that not every outcome is perfect and what you want.
This series of 13 Reasons Why has a lot of warnings regarding mental health and the topics covered beforehand so you are more prepared for what might happen, which I think is great and very responsible.
