An Early Valentine's Meal With Buy A Gift

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Thursday this year it means that John will be working and Erin will be at nursery so I’ll be spending the majority of the day on my own. So, when Buy A Gift got in touch to talk to us about their experiences perfect for Valentine’s Day we picked a three course meal at Prezzo to enjoy ourselves. My sister nicely offered to take Erin to the bowling alley in Norwich to play on the arcades while John and I shared our very first child free meal in two years!

When you order an experience through Buy A Gift you are sent a lovely presentation card with information about the experience as well as a code to redeem online. The great thing about Buy A Gift experiences is that you can exchange a lot of them online if it isn’t quite suitable for you. I love this because a lot of people get this kind of thing as a present and they might want something else so I think it’s a great idea to be able to exchange online.

To use the voucher I had to input a voucher number on the Buy A Gift website and then go through a booking service to book our table. Unlike some other restaurants that Buy A Gift partner with you have to book online for Prezzo. This was a bit unfortunately as the booking system was down for a while and Prezzo would not accept a booking over the phone. We were a bit worried that we wouldn’t be able to book for the date we wanted which was only a few days away. Luckily, we got sorted eventually but it would be nice to have other ways of booking for this particular chain.

Our table was booked for 11:45 on a Sunday and when we arrived there was quite a few people there already. We had a nice table slightly out of the way which was lovely. The Prezzo three course meal experiences has a set menu and comes with either a glass of house wine or a soft drink. John went for a glass of red wine while I had a bottle of Coca Cola.

Choosing our meals from the menu was quite easy as there aren’t too many options. There were 4 starter options, 7 mains and only 3 desserts. Luckily, there was something both of us really fancied but the desserts especially won’t be for everyone as one of them is a very strong coffee flavoured option.

Our starters of Garlic Bread and Mozzarella in Breadcrumb only took a few minutes to arrive and both were delicious. I think there was just enough for us to share without either of us eating too much before our mains.

The main course was by far the best part of the whole meal. Both of us went for pasta as I’d had pizza earlier in the week. My Carbonara was nearly perfect and John’s Arabiatta was surprisingly hot with the chilli that was in it! I didn’t quite finish mine but only because I was saving room for dessert.

As I said earlier, I was a bit disappointing with the dessert options. I went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding and John had the Tiramisu. I only chose what I did though because I hate coffee and I really didn’t want just 2 scoops of ice cream on a cold day. However, my dessert was really rich and was quite delicious. John didn’t leave any of his and he said it was really nice but very strong because of the coffee.

Overall, John and I had a really nice early Valentine’s Day date we have Buy A Gift to thank for that. The booking process is so easy with Buy A Gift and I’ll definitely be using them in the future for gifts for others!
