When I think back to my own childhood one of the most memorable toys was a Mr. Frosty. I remember wanting one for so long and being incredibly excited when I finally got one. When I first heard about the Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker it brought back such good memories and although not the same toy, I knew it would be something Erin and I could enjoy playing with together.

The box comes with a Mr. Frosty and penguin 3D mould, chocolate melting pot which then doubles as a drying station when paired with the handles. The different parts of the Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker are quite simple but they do what they need to and they are also really easy to ADclean afterwards which is quite an important thing to me. I definitely don’t mind a messy activity but it helps a lot if it’s easy to clean up afterwards.

Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker contents

To use the Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker you will need yoghurt of choice, chocolate and any additional toppings you might want to use. We we’re provided with chocolate and sprinkles with our Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker but we chose what yoghurt we wanted to use inside. Here, the combinations are endless as you can use whatever flavours you like and whichever chocolate you prefer.

Using the Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker is really easy. First, you need to fill the 3D moulds with your yoghurt of choice. We always have some of these in the fridge so they’re not something you would necessarily have to go out and buy especially for this. Once your moulds are filled they need to be frozen and this is the only part that really takes a lot of time. Remember to use the handles before freezing too!

Once your yoghurt is frozen you can then melt your chocolate in the bottom half of the igloo. When the chocolate is melted, dip the frozen yoghurt shapes into it and cover as much as you want. These look the best when completely covered but you could do half dipped if you wanted to as well. At this stage you should also add any toppings as you won’t be able to once the chocolate dries.

The top half of the igloo is to be used as a drying station and there are holes for each of he handles. Not only is this a great way to dry your Choc Ices but it also makes it a bit easier if you want to decorate them because it means you don’t have to hold the handle at the same time.

Being completely honest, decorating the chocolate covered moulds was pretty hard. As soon as you have covered the frozen yoghurt with the melted chocolate it hardens within seconds so after this you’re not really able to decorate it any more. Really, if you want to use things like sprinkles then it would be a good idea to have a bowl right next to the chocolate so that you can cover, roll, and then put in the stand. I think smaller children would struggle with this aspect of the Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker and a parent would need to be on hand to do it very quickly.

Even with it being tricky to decorate the choc ices, they really are delicious and a lot of fun to do. It’s a really simple idea and something that would last a really long time due to the simplicity of the parts included. Not only that but it doesn’t have to be summer to use this product. Mr Frosty Choc Ices are delicious all year round and by using yoghurt they can be a healthier alternative to ice cream!

The Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker is aimed at children aged 5+ and has a RRP of £12.99. The price point makes this a great choice for a Christmas or birthday present and it’s something that can be used over and over again in many different ways.

The Mr Frosty Choc Ice Maker can be purchased in most toy shops or supermarkets such as Very or Asda.
