Anyone who had high hopes for 2021 may feel that the wind has already been taken out of their sails. The UK is back in lockdown, and in some ways, it feels as if we’re right back where we started.
But with a vaccine rolling out across the globe, things can only get better. And no matter what, the indomitable spirit of a true dreamer can never be dampened. It isn’t too late to make the most of lockdown, or this year.
With that in mind, these are just three ideas for 2021 and beyond, because it’s never too late – or too early – to start planning for your dreams.
- Teach yourself something new
Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn? A creative skill such as learning a musical instrument? Maybe something practical like a second language? Or an artistic craft like pottery or knitting that ticks both boxes?
Whatever it is, adults looking to pick up new hobbies like these might traditionally opt for night classes or private tutors to get their learning off the ground. These options are off the table in lockdown, but it doesn’t mean that learning has to stop.
In the Golden Age of Information, you can find countless tutorials online for just about anything. And with a little extra time on your hands, now is the perfect opportunity to start!
- Switch up your career
Everyone knows it’s a difficult time to be job hunting.
But if you’re itching for a career change, it’s always worth putting yourself out there. Dust off that old CV, throwing in a few humblebrags about those remote working skills you’ve picked up over the past year, and get that cover letter down to a T!
Whether you’re looking to progress further on your current path or break into a whole new industry, don’t be afraid to test the waters and see what’s out there! You might not find your dream job overnight, but taking that first step is a huge achievement in itself!
- Make a move
Literally! Moving house is exciting, and can herald many new and positive changes in your life.
Don’t be afraid to dream big when it comes to location either – we’re all dreaming of a post-lockdown holiday right now, but why not go a step further?
Ambitious though it may seem, there are many opportunities abroad for expatriates looking to relocate, and with the rise of remote working which looks likely to become a norm in the future, your career options could be broader than you think.
Portugal’s Golden Visa program attracts many new residents to the country year upon year, with many qualifying for the scheme via property investment. It’s not hard to see why this stunning country appeals, and it’s fabulous properties are perfect for full-time residence or holiday homes, as real estate pros Property Lisbon can attest to.
It’s a bold move, but it could be a chance for the fresh start you’ve always dreamed of.
Whatever your 2021 dreams, don’t be afraid to reach for the stars.
