As someone who doesn’t like traditional Christmas cake, I find it hard over the festive season to find a cake for me. When bakerdays for in touch to let me know about their range of Christmas products I was super happy! There are so many options available for alternative Christmas themed cakes and I had such a hard time deciding which one I wanted to try.
In the end, as John is a massive Star Wars fan, I decided to go with the Yoda letterbox cake. Although other sizes are available, the letterbox cakes cost £14.99 and are delivered via Royal Mail and usually take 1-3 working days to arrive after purchasing.
The cake came in a box just the right size to fit through our letterbox. Inside the box was the cake packaged in a black cake tin as well as a gift card and a Christmas cracker. I think adding in something as simple as a cracker really adds a little something extra into something you would have purchased anyway.
The cake itself comes wrapped with a paper tab attached to make it easier to get out of the tin. As soon as the cake is out of the wrapper you can see just how soft and squishy it looks. The colour of the design is fantastic and the cake is really bright and vibrant. John was especially impressed with how good Yoda looked on a cake.
As nice as the cake looked, it wasn’t pretty enough to not eat! The cake has a lovely, thick layer or icing on the top and soft, moist sponge underneath. I chose the traditional sponge but you can also choose from options such as lemon drizzle, chocolate and fruit. There are also gluten free and dairy free options as well!
This bakerdays cake was absolutely delicious. The super soft sponge mixed with the delicious icing makes for a fantastic tasting cake. The only thing that I think would make the sponge better is for there to be some kind of jam there as well. Oh, and there just being more cake generally would make it even better!
If you’re looking for something a little bit different to give as a gift this Christmas, or have someone who is a bit tricky to buy for, bakerdays is a great choice and there are so many options to choose from!
