Erin, from as soon as she could walk I think, wanted to be outside. She would be outside no matter if it was snowing, raining or if there was a massive storm outside. She is so interested in anything growing, the leaves on the ground and we are encouraging her to be friends with the bugs… no matter how scared I might be myself. As someone who grew up pretty much hating the outdoors and any kind of bug that could fly, I don’t really know a lot about these things.

Recently we were sent a book called ‘Know Your Nature: British Wildlife’ and not only will it be good for Erin but it’s something we can use to learn from together.

Know Your Nature: British Wildlife

Know Your Nature: British Wildlife is a beautiful board book which makes it possible to take it out on adventures without worrying about pages tearing or ripping, which is a big concern with any 3 year old. The pages can be wiped clean so there’s no worries about wiping off a bit of mud.

Inside the book are gorgeous displays of things like flowers, trees, insects and fungi, along with loads of other categories. The pictures are bright, bold and you can clearly identify what everything is. There are also descriptions and information under each one. I think there is just enough for children as young as 3 to understand without it being too much or too overwhelming.

Know Your Nature: British Wildlife is a book we’ll be able to get a lot of use out of over the next few years and I’m looking forward to learning something new so I hope Erin will enjoy it as well!
