Children spending more and more time at home recently and we don’t really know when everyone will be back at schools. I think we are all doing our best when it comes to homeschooling but without being a teacher, it can be hard to know what children might enjoy and what they will learn the best from. Learning Resources luckily have so many different fun ways for children to learn and one of them is Steggy The Fine Motor Dino.

Steggy The Fine Motor Dino

Steggy is a super cute dinosaur that is aimed at children from age 18 months. Of course, that’s not to say that it can’t and won’t be enjoyed by children who are older. Steggy is designed to help build hand strength, refine the pincer grasp, and improves hand-eye coordination, not to mention learning more about colours and numbers.

Steggy The Fine Motor Dino

Steggy comes with 10 brightly coloured dinosaur ‘spikes’ which press into the slots in his back. Each one has a number imprinted in the middle of the spike. Some of them are a little harder to see, especially on the lighter coloured spikes. Each spike is really nice and chunky so even smaller hands will be able to sort them out easily.

After children are done playing with Steggy there is a compartment at the back for the spikes to go. It’s really great that there is somewhere safe to keep all of the pieces because we all know that children tend to lose parts!

For older children, a fun way to play might be to only put in either the odd or even numbers. Maybe older children will like to put spikes in depending on what colour they are. Then, there is also putting the numbers into Steggy in the correct sequence. There really are lots of different ways that he can be played with.
