This April we will have lived in our house for 5 years. I think I am getting to the point where I finally know what I want to do in certain rooms and areas. Most of that includes a lot of work though like plastering, ripping out bathrooms and kitchens and actually changing the use of some rooms. We can’t afford any of that right now but what we can do is spruce up some rooms with accessories and prints.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, GreaterSkies got in touch to see if we would like one of their personalised star maps, which would make a wonderful gift. I immediately fell in love with the Romantic style and couldn’t wait to personalise it.
Personalising your sky
GreaterSkies makes it so simple to design your print and to personalise it. You can choose from either a printed map or an instant download which gives you various size options for you to then have printed yourself. This particular star map when printed comes in 2 different sizes and 2 colour options. You can also add a frame to your order if you wish but this is an additional cost.
When it comes to personalising your map there are a few different sections to fill in, which are:
Where do you want to see the sky from?
On what date?
At what time?
Title (Goes at the top of the map)
Personalised message (Goes at the bottom of the map)
Once you have inputted the information you can then see a preview of your map and if you want to, go back and make any changes. As you can see from my print below, I chose not to go with a message at the bottom as I couldn’t think of anything I wanted other than the date and location at the top.
The final product
When my printed and framed star map arrived after only a couple of days (check the website for delivery information) I was so excited to see it finished. GreaterSkies is based in Cambridge and they offer free shipping within the UK, although they do ship to other places such as Europe, the US and Canada as well with varying delivery times.
The framed print was even more stunning in person than it looks online. It came packaged very well so there was never any risk of damage during transit. Something I always worry about with framed prints, especially now that we have Erin, is that the glass will somehow break. GreaterSkies uses extra-transparent thin Styrene instead of glass which gives a better view of the print and is much safer!
The print is so clear and I love being able to see all of the constellations names because otherwise, I wouldn’t have a clue. Although the star map part of the print is really dark, it still looks amazing with the flowers and the soft coloured background.
I haven’t found the perfect spot to hang our GreaterSkies print yet but I know that I already want one of the Little Star maps for the day that Erin was born to go with it. They’re going to make a beautiful pair wherever I decide to hang them.
