What We’ve Been Watching: June 2018

What We’ve Been Watching is a monthly feature where we talk about everything we’ve been watching over the past month. It might be something on Netflix, Sky or even just a DVD we’ve had for years but wanted to watch again. If we’ve been watching something new we’ll talk about that too!

Greys Anatomy Series 6 & 7

You’re probably getting bored of me mentioning Grey’s Anatomy every month now. With us being on holiday at Haven for the best part of a week we had a bit of a break of watching. Also, my sister started her new job this month so she hasn’t been home as much/ tired in the evenings so some nights we have only been watching an episode or 2. My sister is moving out in the middle of July so after that I think I’ll be trying to power though the DVDs I have (I still need to buy series 10-14).
Anyway, this month we’ve been watching series 6 and we also started series 7. Series 6 was probably the most tense thing I have ever seen on TV. The last couple of episodes were just horrendous to watch and I think I spent a lot of those 2 episodes hiding behind a blanket and not wanting to see what was going to happen next. I also cried my eyes out. I thought the bomb episode in an earlier series was bad. I thought George dying was bad. I was not prepared for how emotional that series finale was going to be. Still, it was my favourite so far but if it was that good, I can imagine that I have a rough road ahead seeing as I still have 7 series to watch.

Blade Runner 2049

While we were on holiday I took some DVDs to watch in the caravan. I think I must have watched the original Blade Runner film a very long time ago and I really didn’t remember it at all. I had no idea what to expect from Blade Runner 2049, I just knew that Ryan Gosling was in it and honestly, that is always enough for me to pick a film. I was so surprised by how much I liked this film. Like isn’t strong enough really because I really loved this film.

Blade Runner 2049 is quite strange and it’s not the kind of film you can flit in and out of so you really need to pay attention. I did pretty well at this considering I was working at the same time. John, on the other hand, fell asleep at quite an important moment and he was very confused at the end. What I will say about Blade Runner 2049 is that I kind of expected Harrison Ford to be in it more!

The Danish Girl

The Danish Girl is a film John and I have tried to watch a couple of times. He was the one that wanted to watch this really because I actually wasn’t too fussed about it. He’s a big fan of Eddie Redmayne whereas I’m not particularly. Anyway, this was another DVD we took on holiday with us.
I chose this one as John fell asleep the first time we tried to watch it and I actually wanted to find out what happened because I wasn’t familiar with the person the story is based on. John fell asleep yet again so I decided to just carry on and watch the rest of the film on my own this time. I ended up really loving the film and as I’d only got part was through the first time around, I was prepared for the second half of the story. The Danish Girl was a lot more emotional than I thought it was going to be and I’m glad I finished watching it this time around.
I’d love to know what you’ve been watching this month and if you’ve got any recommendations for new series to start, let me know in the comments.
