4 Ways To Grow Your Small Business

Being self-employed means that I am constantly thinking about ways to better what I am doing, make more money and cut down on time I spend doing certain things. I don’t have any staff and I can only rely on myself

Social media

Back when I started blogging 10 years ago social media didn’t play nearly as big a part as it does now. I only ever used to use Twitter and Instagram wasn’t even a thing back then. However, social media is everything now when it comes to business. Your social media channels can not only keep your current customers or readers involved but along with clever marketing, you can gain new custom.

Being present and aware of what your social media channels need is so important for small businesses and it can make such a big difference.

Outsource tasks

Something I think we all need to realise is that we can’t do everything ourselves. I would love to think I can but it’s just not true and you can end up putting a lot of stress on yourself by even trying. Being a smart small business owner means outsourcing some of your regular tasks.

In the world of blogging, things like social media scheduling, pinning on Pinterest and replying to emails can take a really long time. These kinds of tasks can take over from being able to write blog posts so hiring a VA to do some of these tasks would be really worthwhile.

Something else you might struggle with is keeping all of your contacts in order. This doesn’t need to be a hard job though as managing your database is easy with a real estate crm like IXACT Contact. Instead of trying to find 1 contact and not knowing where it might be, this would save you a lot of time and hassle, making your job easier in the long run.

Realistic goals

Something that can hinder your growth is unrealistic expectations. I would love to say that I could double my page views in a month or grow my Facebook following by 1000 in the same time but neither of those things are ever going to happen.

In order to grow your own business you need to work out what you can actually achieve and figure out how to do that. Obviously, you need to have goals and something to reach for but it can be really disheartening if you don’t get close to what you aimed for. If something doesn’t work one month, go back and try something else until you find a method that works for you and your business.

Look after yourself

Sometimes a small business might only have 1 employee… you! I know from personal experience that when you’re feeling tired, run down or stressed then your motivation can really drop. In order to grow your small business then you need to make sure you’re looking after yourself. This might mean taking a couple of extra hours off a week or going for a massage once a month. The more relaxed you feel the more you are able to put into growing your small business.
