During the colder months it’s easy to want to stay home more often. It’s cold and wet outside so where better to spend your free time than snuggled up on the couch with a blanket and some delicious snacks. With maybe more time on your hands than in summer you might be looking for something new to watch. I love a good box set to binge watch so here are some box sets to watch this winter:
Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy was something I put off watching for the longest time. I don’t know why but I just wasn’t that bothered about watching a medical drama. I think I might have watched some E.R. years ago but was never a massive fan. Then, when my sister lived with us she bought the first box set to see if I liked it and from the first episode I was hooked.
Grey’s Anatomy will be both the best and the worst thing you ever watch! It has romance, heartbreak, drama and everything else you can imagine all in one show. The show hasn’t finished airing yet but as of October 2019 there are 15 seasons to get through which will take up quite a lot of time.
Criminal Minds
Criminal Minds is the show I chose to watch on my maternity leave. One afternoon I saw the first episode on Sky and I recorded it from there. This one follows the team of the BAU, the Behavioural Analasis Unit, who investigate crimes and murders which are usually on a time sensitive basis.
The whole show has a fantastic cast, lots of action and while you can watch each episode on their own if you like, there is also a long running story line too. Although this is a drama show, I have cried more times than I really want to admit and I honestly love everything about it. Criminal Minds will have a total of 15 series when it finishes.
Dawson’s Creek
Ah Dawson’s Creek, the show I loved the most as a teenager. It’s been a few years now since I last had a re-watch and it was when I got John to watch it for the first time.
Dawson’s Creek follows a group of friends in a small American town while they grow up through their teenager years and then on to college. Dawson’s Creek has a fantastic cast (James Van der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams) and some really great episodes. I think this was one of the first shows I remember tackling some really important issues too.
House
I honestly never wanted to watch House. I didn’t think I would like Hugh Laurie so it just didn’t interest me. This was another one that I noticed being shown from the start on Sky a few months ago so figured I would record it and see what it was like. I was pretty hooked from the first episode and I spent a good few months watching all 8 series.
I think House is a medical drama with a difference and it has a great long running story line throughout as well as smaller ones in each individual episode.
American Horror Story
American Horror Story won’t be for everyone but it’s one of my absolute favourite shows. The great thing with this one is that each series is different. You can pick and choose which you want to watch and they’re not very long either so it won’t take up months of watching time.
My personal favourites are Murder House, Asylum and the new series, 1984! Each series has such a fantastic cast, sometimes playing various characters and the horror element is always different too.
These are just 5 of my favourite box sets but I’d love some recommendations from you as well! Let me know what your favourite box set is in the comments!
These are some really great suggestions. I love House, I think I’ve seen the whole thing now but not for a while. I would love to watch it all again!!!! A few Sundays binge watching should probably cover that 🙂
These are great choices. I absolutely adore Greys, I just love dipping in and out and watching my favourite episodes again and again.
Early AHS I can watch again and again as well x
I seem to get to season 6 of Grey’s every time and then stop, as one of my kids gets older and I have no time to watch in the day anymore!! One day I will finish.
I’m with you for everything except the last one! Is it really really scary? I don’t like horror! Also, your header is so cool!
Our favourite is Chicago Fire-I can’t recommend it enough. Also New Amsterdam.
Out that list, I’d have to go for criminal minds. It’s the best there is.
I used to love watching House, watched the whole thing from beginning to end. Never seen any of the others, except for the first episode of Dawson’s Creek but I have to confess it didn’t grab me.
Ooo not actually watched most of these before, so at least there is a few more new items to add onto the list x
We fell out of love with American Horror Story but I have heard it is back to its best so will try again. Loved Dawson’s Creek the first time around
