A smile goes a long way

This week my mum is here visiting and meeting her granddaughter for the first time. Mum arrived yesterday and since then she has held Erin any time she has had the chance. While it’s been great to have a bit of a break it’s also really strange not holding her sometimes and not having her with me while she’s sleeping.

Erin is now 6 weeks old and starting to do some new and exciting things (for me anyway). Earlier on this evening Mum and Erin were having some lovely cuddles and I wet over to join in and say hi. As soon as Erin heard my voice her head turned and I got a huge smile out of her. Up until now I haven’t been sure of a real smile; I’ve always assumed it’s been wind. For the next 5 minutes or so she followed my voice and I got a few more smiles out of her when she realised it was me again.

It’s hard to express just how happy seeing Erin smile for the first time has made me. Unfortunately John was out walking Jackson at this time so he didn’t get to see it. I can’t wait until she does this for him. I know he’ll be super excited. Things like this make me even more excited for her doing more things for the first time. I can’t wait to find out what’s next!
