Earlier this year Erin was sent the BABY born soft touch doll with some accessories and she has played with them so much since then. It’s funny how a variation of a toy that has been around for decades can still provide so much joy to children. BABY born have such a wonderful range of products and Erin was very kindly sent some new items to add to her collection.
A big sister!
I think a lot of the time when we think about dolls we think of them as babies. I was so glad to see that BABY born have really expanded the range and you can now get a BABY born Soft Touch Sister, or a brother if you wanted. The BABY born Soft Touch Sister is a 43cm doll that comes with some great accessories. In the box you get the doll, styled in a cool outfit with a pair of shoes, hair brush, bobbles and hair grips and also her own water bottle.
Erin loves pretending to do my hair and I often end up with a head full of hair grips. I really like that this doll has long hair that comes styled in bunches and has her own hair accessories. Erin can now style her doll’s hair rather than mine! I can see Erin playing with this aspect of the doll for hours and hours, and even more so when she figures out how to do a bobble.
Just like the BABY born soft touch doll, the sister also has life like features. The water bottle accessory can be filled with real water, which the doll can then drink when you squeeze it into her mouth. You can then get the doll to cry by squeezing her arm. I think features like these really help children to role play better and to come up with more realistic scenarios.
Going on an adventure
We were also sent the BABY born Scooter and Helmet and I know I would have loved something like this myself when I was Erin’s age. Before you are able to play with the scooter both the vehicle and the remote control both need batteries (AA and AAA) but these are not supplied. If this is something you might be looking at for a gift for someone it would be worth having some batteries ready.
Having a really cool scooter to play with for your dolls is one thing but having one that is remote controlled is another. Of course, the scooter works better on smoother, flatter floors compared to a carpeted room. You can also drive it around by hand if you want to instead, especially if you live in a house without hard floors. Not only does the scooter really work but the remote control is multi-directional and there are also indicators that really work.
The scooter has stabilisers in the middle which means it can stand up on it’s own when not being used or maybe when your doll needs to park up for a break somewhere! The BABY born Scooter comes with 2 sheets of stickers, including letters, so it can be fully personalised by your child. I really liked this little extra as it’s something else that helps to really make the toy special and exactly how your child might want it to look.
The great thing about the BABY born Scooter and Helmet is that it is compatible with any of the 43cm dolls. This means that you can use the scooter with both the BABY born soft touch doll and the sister/ brother dolls. We have one of each doll so I wanted to show both of them on the scooter and with the helmet on and you can see that below.
Erin is very on it when it comes to safety; she has complained before about a figure on a bike not having a helmet. I think it’s so important that something like this has been thought of and included with the scooter as it really sets a good example for young children. The helmet has a visor which can come down to cover the doll’s eyes as well as a strap for underneath the chin, which is adjustable.
Dress the part
Something that I really love is the outfits can be used by both the BABY born soft touch doll and the BABY born Soft Touch Sister as they are the same height. When your children love to collect accessories like these it can end up costing quite a bit so to be able to use the outfits for more than one thing is such a good idea. The BABY born City Outfit comes with a jacket, t-shirt and shorts/ tights, as well as a hanger to keep them on.
It’s really nice that this outfit comes with a few different separate pieces. Some children might like to keep the outfit together but it’s nice to have the option to mix and match with any other clothes they might have for the dolls. Erin is only just getting the hang of things like grips and buttons so being able to practice on the jacket is great for her.
We are such big fans of BABY born products and these are some great additions to the range. Not only do the products look and feel as real as possible but they provide hours of fun with lots of ways to be played with.
