Countdown To Our First Family Holiday Abroad

Countdown To Our First Family Holiday Abroad, Spain

The last time we went abroad was September 2015, a few months before Erin was born. I knew then that it would probably be a few years before we’d be able to go abroad on holiday again so I wanted to make the most of it while I could. In 2016 we didn’t go anywhere at all and in 2017 we managed quite a few weekends away and also a holiday to Center Parcs. But, I’d been dreaming of a relaxing week away with just John and Erin somewhere at least slightly warm.

This time in 5 weeks we will be at Stansted Airport waiting for our flight to Majorca. Normally when I have been abroad in the past it’s been for a city break but I have never really done a package holiday. This time, we have gone for 7 nights all inclusive and I cannot wait! We have had this holiday booked for around a year now so it’s been a very long wait for it to come around. Up until maybe last week, it seemed like the date would never come and we still had a really long time to wait. John has been working a lot for the past couple of months and he is certainly in need of a really good break.

I’m officially on countdown now but that also means I am in list and packing mode. Having never been abroad with a toddler before I want to make sure we’re as prepared as possible and I don’t want to forget anything if I can help it!

The last time we went somewhere warm was Orlando back in 2013 when John and I got married. I overpacked A LOT for that holiday so at least I know this time that I really don’t need loads of shoes and I will probably wear short and a top or my swimming costume most days. As we’re all inclusive this time we won’t be spending a whole lot of time outside of our hotel, or we won’t be going far from it at least. There is a beach only a 5 minute walk away as well as the marina a little bit further away. I don’t think we’re planning to eat anywhere other than in our hotel because otherwise, paying for all inclusive would have been a bad idea!

The one thing I do worry about a little bit is making sure there is enough that Erin will actually eat. She’s doing a whole lot better now in terms of what she will actually eat you never really know with a toddler. Luckily, I have done a bit of research and I know that there is a supermarket near the marina so we can always go there and get some snacks etc. if we need to although I will be taking some with us as well!

So, this week I need to make sure we all have the clothes we need and then make a list of anything extra we need to purchase. I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to packing and this kind of thing so John doesn’t even really get a look in! It does mean quite a lot of work for me but I think I’d be stressed and panicking too much otherwise!
