How I'm Getting Organised For The New Year

How I’m Getting Organised For The New Year

I don’t know about you but when it comes to the New Year I like to be as organised as possible. We tend to have a lot going on all of the time and I hate feeling stressed or panicked about getting everything done. So, each New Year I put a plan in place to get myself organised and ready for anything we have coming up. Getting into this frame of mind takes a bit of practice though and I never used to be like this. Now though, with a family I have to be or nothing ever gets done! Today I wanted to share with you some of the ways that I get myself, and the family, organised!

A good diary

I have been using a diary for so many years now that I don’t think I could cope without one any more. In our family, I am the one who plans and organises everything and John generally never really knows what is going on unless I tell him a few days before. At the end of the year I like to move over any details and pre-made plans into the new diary and start the New Year as I mean to go on. This year I will be using this beautiful Cook’s Diary, which is available in 3 gorgeous cover designs.

Cook's Diary

In the front of the Cook’s Diary there is a lovely pocket with a sheet of stickers. I find something like this a really nice addition as a lot of diary don’t come with extras. I especially like the birthday stickers as it saves a lot of writing and you can quickly go through the whole year adding them in where you need to.

This is a diary with a bit of a difference as although it has the usual dated pages, each week comes with a delicious recipe to try. There’s everything from main meals to dessert and the front of the diary has even more tips and things to experiment with. I really love this idea for a diary and it would definitely make a nice present for someone too.

Stationery galore!

I remember being in secondary school and being so excited about going to buy my school supplies. For as long as I can remember I have had such a big love for stationery. If you’re anything like me and still like planning on paper then you will need some great stationery to help with getting yourself organised. The lovely people at STABILO set me a fantastic bundle to get me started.

Something I do like to do is colour code whether this be in the form of to do lists, dates and occasions written in diaries and especially when I’m putting things into certain categories. I think this came from being at college and university where I found separating things into colours so much easier. I absolutely love the STABILO point 88 Rollerset and as it being something that rolls up, it’s easy to store and easy to use when needed! It comes with 25 different coloured pens and is definitely a must have now for me.

STABILO Trio DECO

When I’m sitting down to make plans I love to make them pretty. I’m one of those people who like to drawer cloud type things around headings and highlight other things too. The STABILO pen 68 metallic set is gorgeous and it comes in a really nice tin and there is also the STABILO Trio DECO set with its 8 different metallic colours.

Not only will I be using these when I plan out our trips but I think they’d be pretty fantastic for writing out things like Christmas cards too.

STABILO BOSS MINI Sweet Friends Edition

Every day I have a to-do list and I can’t really cope without one. I know for sure that I would never get enough done and I would probably always be behind with work. I love to mark off each task as I finish it and the STABILO BOSS MINI Sweet Friends Edition highlighters are not only practical but they’re really fun and colourful as well.

Wall planner

For the first time I. bought myself a wall planner from doodlelove. While I have everything written in my diary as well I like to be able to see important dates and trips away easily, especially when I’m working in my office. We have quite a few trips planned already for 2020 and I didn’t want to end up getting double booked somehow so I thought a wall planner would be a great way to help keep my dates sorted. I chose an A2 wall planner in landscape and it shows the whole year with a month on each line. The wall planner doesn’t take up loads of space on my wall but there is still plenty of space to write in each box and I also highlight when I have something booked in.

  1. I’ve got myself a wipeable wall planner with some whiteboard pens for next year, and it’s an absolute game changer for organising my blog as I can now easily move things around if necessary. I’ve got a diary for next year already too, so need to find some time to sit down and add dates I already know.

  2. I love the wall planner ad I’m definitely with you on colour coding. I usually do my own planner on Excel with lots of colour coding 🙂
