Messy Mat Review And Giveaway

Messy Mat Review And Giveaway

AD | Gifted item

For as long as I can remember Erin has been a messy child. When we were weaning food would go everywhere. When Erin was at her previous nursery she would come home covered in absolutely everything. Now, she loves painting, Play Doh and spreading out with whatever she is playing with. Of course, this means certain areas at home getting messier than I would like or for us to need a bit of protection from the mess. We were recently sent the Messy Mat from Messy Me to help us out and we’re giving one away at the end of the post too!

On a weekend we often have a dining table full of the messiest things that Erin can find to play with. Just this last weekend we had every item of Play Doh out for at least 3-4 hours. I don’t mind the mess on the dining table so much but the floor is a whole different story. Somehow, we end up with trodden in bits all over and when it dries on it’s a pain to scrape off! We have old wooden floors so scraping Play Doh off with a knife is far from ideal.

Messy Mat under a chair

The Messy Mat is 90 x 120cms so it’s plenty big enough to be put underneath a chair at the dining table, or even on top of it if you want to use it as a tablecloth. The Messy Mat provides a large covered area underneath where Erin is playing and creating masterpieces. The splashmat is made from oilcloth so it can be wiped clean really easily with either a wet wipe or a damp cloth. Dried on items can just be shaken off or swept up.

We live in an old Victorian semi and the floorboards in our dining room, where Erin plays a lot, is full of gaps and you can sometimes feel the breeze coming through them. Erin loves to play in this part of the room though as it has a large flat area and she’s really able to spread out. We often play on the floor with some of our Orchard Toys games or a tub of dinosaurs but I always get worried that we’re going to lose pieces in the cracks.

Messy Mat as a play mat

The Messy Mat doesn’t just have to be used for messy/ creative activities or during mealtimes. We use ours to create a safer, warmer dedicated play area in a space that would be otherwise a bit uncomfortable. The Messy Mat can also be used outside so it’s perfect for picnics in the garden or for taking on a day out so you have somewhere clean and dry to sit!

The Messy Mat can be easily folded up to store out of the way when not in use and it also doesn’t take up much space if you want to pop it in your bag to take out with you. This is quite an important thing for me because even with a 3 year old I already have enough to carry around on a daily basis but the Messy Mat is light as well so really doesn’t add any extra weight to my bag.

If you’re looking for something to help keep your home clean while you’re child expresses their creative (and messy) side then the Messy Mat is a must have!

  1. I need this in my life. My (nearly) 3 year old gets crumbs literally everywhere, and we are weaning our 9 month old (those “mess free” baby snacks are a total lie haha). And don’t get me started on how play-dough has a way of getting in the carpet…

  2. What a great idea and gap in the market they have found. I’m sure nurseries and schools would be interested in using it as well as of course families at home. Perfect that you can just use a wet or damp cloth to clean it as so many of these types of products probably get thrown in the bin after a few usages.
