If you’re anything like me, you’ll be the kind of person who really gets sucks into adverts on television, especially for things like vacuum cleaners. The adverts that always stand out for me the most are those for the Shark vacuum cleaners. I was so happy when we were offered the brand new Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner (NV801UK) for review. Of course, I jumped at the chance.
On the day the Shark upright vacuum cleaner arrived I was literally bouncing with excitement. I know that sounds quite silly but I had heard such good things about this brand and couldn’t wait to try my new vacuum cleaner. Upon getting it out of the box I was quickly impressed. The colouring which is grey, white and orange is super cool and way more stylish than any other vacuum cleaner we have had before.
Once out of the box, the vacuum cleaner was super easy to put together. It comes with a quick start manual which meant we were operational within only 5 minutes.
While this particular Shark vacuum cleaner is an upright, it also has something called lift-away. This means you can detach the main pod where all of the dirt and dust goes so that you can use the machine in loads of different ways. If you detach the pod you can use the vacuum cleaner to get right underneath tricky areas like beds and sofas.
You are also able to detach the wand part of the vacuum cleaner so that you can use the attachments provided. The attachments, cleverly sit at the back of the pod meaning that they’re always with you when you’re using the vacuum cleaner and they won’t get lost in a drawer somewhere. We have fairly high ceilings as we live in a Victorian house and the wand and attachments reach really easily.
I first used our Shark vacuum cleaner only a couple of days after I had cleaned the floor. I could not believe the amount of dirt and dust that came up! I thought my living room carpet was pretty clean but I was really wrong. The area I cleaned is really quite small but the pod was at least 1/3 full after only using it once! The suction in this vacuum cleaner is really amazing and I’m really impressed with how clean it makes our floors.
One feature that I am so in love with on this vacuum cleaner is the light on the front of the nozzle. When you’re cleaning underneath places like beds, chairs and sofas, it’s really hard to see what you’re doing and whether or not you’ve done a good job. The light lets you see exactly what you’re doing and it’s a bit of a genius thing to have on a vacuum cleaner really.
Being an upright vacuum cleaner, this machine can be a little bit heavy at times and this can make it a little hard to maneuver on certain carpets. However, I don’t see it as too much of an issue though as long as you’re not cleaning a very large area with a lot of obstacles to get around. I find carrying the vacuum cleaner a lot easier to carry around once I have lifted out the main pod but maybe that is just me.
When you have children I think you pay a little bit more attention to how clean certain areas of your house are. I certainly pay more attention to how clean my floors are and how well our appliances are working for us. The Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner (NV801UK) is quite honestly amazing and worth every single penny of it’s price tag.
