So, you are in that stage where might want to have a baby. Congratulations – that is so very exciting! As everyone has probably told you before, your life will definitely change once you have a baby, so now is the time to soak in all of your sleep (as well as anything else you want to do before the baby arrives!). When you are trying, it can be very stressful, but that’s bad when you are trying to conceive, so just try to have fun with it and see what happens! Here are a few things to do before having a baby:
Start Prenatal Vitamins In Advance
Who would have known that you have to start prenatal vitamins six months in advance?! Not me! Apparently, it is good to have all of those vitamins in your system before you actually conceive. Of course, not all women do this, so if you get unexpectedly pregnant, don’t freak out – you are okay! Relax and start them whenever you can. But, if you have the option to choose if you do or do not start prenatal vitamins before, please choose to take them!
Go To The Dentist
Apparently, gingivitis is very common in pregnancy, so you not only need to go before you get pregnant but during it, as well. If you are looking for a new dentist that can help you keep your smile healthy and bright, you might want to consider Dr. Gary Simms with Metro Decatur Dental Group PC. According to their website, “Dr. Gary Simms is most known for his calm, caring demeanour and ability to help produce fantastic results for his clients. While most dentists have the ability to help clients, not all have the passion and care for clients. Dr. Simms loves what he does, and knows the importance of changing someone’s smile, both functionally and cosmetically; the results often positively change someones entire life, not just their smile. This is a cause Dr. Gary Simms does not take lightly and treats all clients with the care and dignity they rightfully deserve.” Metro Decatur Dental Group PC offers services such as dentures, dental implants, orthodontic services, teeth whitening, gum disease treatments, and basic dental care, as well. A healthy smile = a healthy mama!
Spend Time With Your Significant Other
Having a baby with your significant other is an experience that can make you grow together and become so much closer. However, adding a new member to the family takes a lot of the time that you would spend having date nights and alone time together. Making sure you spend plenty of time with your boo before a baby arrives will help you make up for some of the lost alone time. That being said, get ready to enjoy lots of great time and memories together with your baby as a new family!
Get A Kid-Friendly House
IF you are looking for a new house, go ahead and get that out of the way before you start trying and before you get pregnant! Why? Because the house hunting process can be very stressful if you let it get to you and like I said above, stress and trying to get pregnant do not mix well together. Consider the school zones you will be in, if your home will be easy to baby proof, and if you can grow your family in it, as well.
Start A Workout Program
Physical activity is so healthy for you at all times in life, and that does not exclude when you are planning on having a baby! There are so many benefits to exercising before or during pregnancy. Besides the common wish of wanting to stay at a healthy weight, parents.com states that “making exercise a regular habit before trying to conceive can help you feel good throughout your pregnancy, have more stamina for labour and delivery, and shed the baby weight faster.” So get moving!
Starting the process of conceiving can be scary if you let it get to you, but keep a positive attitude and you will rock this new portion of your life! Congratulations, mama!!
