I have to be completely honest and admit that I have a bit of a thing about getting new kitchen gadgets and hardly ever using them. The space at the top of my kitchen cupboards is overtaken by sandwich toasters, mixers and blenders and there’s not really much room left for anything else. When we first got the air fryer I really didn’t think we would use it that much. I had been a very big lover of my deep fat fryer but I knew we had to make a change and this was it. Using the air fryer took some getting used to and we found food or frozen items that we preferred cooking in it more than others.
Something I don’t think I ever expected was to be able to cook a good chunk of Christmas dinner in an air fryer. I personally hate spending hours in the kitchen on Christmas Day, especially if it’s just me, John and Erin because I want to spent the time with my family. Last year I spent some time trying to think of ways to cut down my cooking time on Christmas Day and it seemed like the air fryer was the ideal piece of kitchen equipment to help.
When you only have 4 spaces on the hob and quite a small oven it means not being able to cook everything in 1 go. If I wanted potatoes, meat and Yorkshire puddings in the oven it meant not being able to do things like parsnips. If I wanted a variety of vegetables as well as making mashed potatoes I needed some extra space on the hob and there was just no way for me to cook everything that I wanted to eat.
