One of Erin’s favourite things to play with is her dolls, and she is super lucky to have both a BABY born brother and sister as well as the BABY born soft touch doll. She can spend hours and hours playing with them, making up different situations for them and looking after them. Adding a new addition to her BABY born family Erin recently received the BABY Born Little Sister Mermaid*
The BABY Born Little Sister Mermaid comes with the mermaid doll, comb and a tiara. The mermaid has some cool features like a colour changing fin and bikini top. Erin couldn’t wait to get her out of the box to see what she could do and how they could play together.
Once we got the BABY Born Little Sister Mermaid out of the box we realised that she needed batteries to work. The doll takes 3 AAA batteries and they are not included so it would be a good idea to have these handy before opening the box. John went off to find some while Erin got to know her new toy a bit better.
Erin really loved that the BABY Born Little Sister Mermaid had beautiful hair and that there was a comb and tiara to play with too. Erin really loves doing other people’s hair at the moment so she was having a lot of fun combing through the hair and making her look like a princess with the tiara. These are both really fun accessories to have and if your child has other dolls then they can be used on them as well.
One of the features of this toy is the colour changing fun and bikini top when it is put in water, along with the moving tail when she swims. We had the paddling pool out for the day so this was the perfect opportunity to give these cool features a try.
While the colour changes were really cool, unfortunately the swim feature was really quite disappointing. At first we thought it was because we had used batteries without much power so we tried some more. The fin is supposed to move in the water but all we managed to get the doll to do was make a loud mechanical sound but no movement.
For the price of the BABY Born Little Sister Mermaid I would have expected a lot more from it. For the biggest and most exciting feature to not work properly, if at all, is a big disappointment and I know a lot of children will be quite sad about that. Luckily for us, Erin was happy enough to play with her in the paddling pool and then take her into the bath later on. As a toy without the movement, it can be used in loads of ways but the price doesn’t really reflect this.
