For years we had a tradition in our family that we would go out for a meal on Christmas Eve instead of having Christmas dinner! This meant we could focus our time on younger members of the family rather than someone being in the kitchen all day cooking. We don’t really get to do that any more though as my Mum lives 6 hours away and my sister… well, she’s in between places at the moment and currently lives with us. We haven’t spent a Christmas together as a whole family for years but this year is different. This year,
Although I have had cakes from Patisserie Valerie before, it’s not somewhere I ever thought to go for Afternoon Tea. I’m not sure why! My sister came for a visit last week though and had purchased a Groupon voucher for Afternoon Tea at Patisserie Valerie in Norwich! Normally, this would have cost £25 but the voucher was £19, making a saving of £6. It’s not loads but at least it works out at less than £10 each. When we arrived we didn’t have to wait to be seated and instead just sorted ourselves out a table and high chair and waited for
We decided to eat out on each evening of out holiday and our first night we chose Huck’s American Bar & Grill. We wanted to be able to eat a variety of food and not eat at the same place more than once. Huck’s is located in the Village Square and was a quick 10-15 minute walk away from our lodge, depending on whether Erin was walking or in her pushchair. The play areas in Huck’s are pretty amazing. There is a small room with soft play blocks for very young children and a bigger room that was a bit
Erin LOVES fish. Ever since we took her to the Sealife London Aquarium a couple of months ago she has been obsessed. When we had to opportunity to go to another Sealife, I jumped at the chance. We made the most of this too and had a family day trip to Great Yarmouth. Although we arrived at about 11am on a weekday, Sealife Great Yarmouth was pretty busy! There must have been 2 or 3 school groups visiting at the same time as us. However, we got through the entrance quickly and had a couple of photos taken before heading
Sometimes I get an email in my inbox that really makes me happy. Just recently, an email titled ‘Exciting News From Johnson’s’ came in. Johnson’s got in touch to tell me about an update regarding their Alliance Partnership with the Royal College of Midwives. Certain JOHNSON’S® products now have a ‘Supported by RCM’ logo on pack. The RCM believes that the research and science behind the JOHNSON’S® products which have the RCM logo is strong and evidence-based, although the RCM does not endorse any specific products or brands. As a parent, it’s really hard to chose which products to use. This doesn’t only
I have been to London quite a lot already this year and it’s only June, with another trip booked for a couple of weeks time. I really hate staying in the same hotels in London because there is so much choice. One of our recent stays was in the ibis Styles London Kensington. The ibis Styles London Kensington is situated a 5 minute walk away from Earl’s Court tube station so it is really accessible from anywhere in London. Earl’s Court is also an accessible station which made things a hell of a lot easier having Erin with us. Our
Over the past year we have been to Turtle Bay, Norwich for a few different meals. John is mad about their jerk ribs so we love to go back when we can. Just recently Turtle Bay have revamped their menu and we were invited to try out some of the new flavours. We went for our meal on a Sunday lunchtime at 11:30. Erin tends to get hungry very quickly when we’re out and about so I didn’t want to make her wait ages for lunch. For our starter John and I ordered the Vital Veggie Platter. John is trying
It seems as though I’ve been to London a hell of a lot recently and actually, I have compared to how much I normally go. Back in April I went for a couple of days away without John or Erin. I chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Park Royal which is in North Action. Being located in North Acton means that the hotel is not in the centre of London. The good news though is that you can get the tube to North Acton station and you’re looking at about a 20 minute journey from Leicester Square area.
