Reducing Food Waste With A Fridgemaster Fridge

It’s true what they say about teething puppies; they try to eat anything they can. When Jackson was a little puppy he literally did try to eat whatever he could get his sharp teeth on and that included the corners of our fridge and freezers. We have galley kitchen and all under the counter appliances and he pretty much tried to eat all of them! Unfortunately, we no longer have Jackson with us as he had to be re homed and it’s time to start replacing some appliances as and when we can. This month we got a new Fridgemaster Fridge from AO.com.

Before I talk about the fridge, I need to talk about AO.com a little. This was our first time ordering with AO.com and what I didn’t realise was they do next day delivery, 7 days a week (charges apply). Not only that but your old appliances can be taken away and your new ones installed for you (charges apply). If, like us, you don’t drive and have no way of getting rid of an old appliance, this is ideal and it takes away all of the stress!

The fridge is quite unlike the others we have had in the past. To start with, it’s silver! Generally, I always go for white appliances but after having a dog and now we have Erin, white just does not work. It never looks clean so I thought silver would be a better option! I actually really love the silver and I think from now on, it would take a lot to make me choose white again.

We live a 2 minute walk away from Sainsbury’s so we tend to shop on a day to day basis. This has stopped us wasting a lot of food as we only buy what we need for about 2 days at a time so we don’t need as much fridge space as a lot of families. This Fridgemaster Fridge is a great size what what we need!

The main part of the fridge has two decent sized shelves as well as an ice box at the top. The shelves are lovely and deep and you can put quite a lot on them. We certainly wouldn’t struggle to have everything we needed on there! The ice box is great too and it comes with an auto defrost feature and a defrost tray so you don’t have to worry about water dripping everywhere and ruining whatever else is in the fridge.

This particular Fridgemaster Fridge has a one salad box instead of the usual two you get in a lot of fridges. However, the salad box is really narrow although the full width of the fridge. While you can fit a whole cucumber in no problem, you’d find it very hard to fit in something like a lettuce unless it’s already chopped and bagged. I certainly wouldn’t have minded a smaller box but I do think it should at least fit in normal salad items.

I love that the door has quite a few different trays and they are all at varying heights. I’m the kind of person that really likes an organised fridge and I like to keep things separate from one another and these trays make that possible. Again, as this is a smaller than average fridge, you will struggle if you want to fit in big bottles of milk as they won’t fit in the bottom tray.

While this isn’t a fridge for larger families, it suits us fine and it would also be fantastic for working couples or students. At £129, the Fridgemaster MUR4892S Fridge with Ice Box is a great buy and through AO.com, you can buy without any stress or hassle!

  1. Oooh nice and shiny new fridge. I like the different heights for the shelves in the door, they never normally seem to be right.
