Summer Lunch Solutions From Thermos

Erin is going on a school trip to the zoo in a couple of weeks and she needs to take a packed lunch with her. She takes packed lunches all throughout the holidays anyway but normally we are able to put them in the fridge at school to keep everything at the right temperature. With the weather being so nice at the minute, and it being so warm, nursery have advised us to be a bit more careful with what we pack for the trip as it can’t be refrigerated.

We normally use a Yumbox Classic, which Erin loves but it doesn’t have a handle and it won’t stay cool in the warm weather. Recently though, Thermos introduced us to their children’s range and kindly sent us a lunchbag and bottle for Erin to try out.

Thermos Floral Lunch Kit

To start with, the bag is really pretty and Erin made ‘oooh’ sounds as soon as she saw it. I really think that having a lunchbox or bag that your child likes can really help with them actually wanting to eat what is inside. There is also a football version of this product if your child isn’t really into flowers.

The first thing I noticed about the bag, apart from the design, was that it had a handle and this is a really important feature for me. We are still pushchair users so having a handle on the bag means we are able to hang it from a bag clip and get to it easily while we’re out and about. The handle also means that Erin is able to carry her own lunch around if she wants to.

Something I worry about with Erin’s lunch, especially in the hot weather, is whether or not it will last in the heat. The Thermos floral lunchbag is insulated and designed to help keep whatever is inside cool. Erin’s Yumbox fits perfectly inside as well so I’m able to prepare her usual packed lunch for school while knowing it will be safe even if not refrigerated. Erin can now take her favourite lunch on her trip to the zoo in a couple of weeks in her new lunchbag!

Thermos FUNtainer Straw Bottle

We were also sent a FUNtainer Straw Bottle as well as the lunchbag. It’s so important to keep children hydrated when it’s as hot as it has been lately but when you’re out and about, your drinks can go warm very quickly and they’re just not very nice to drink. The FUNtainer Straw Bottle is made from stainless steel and can keep drinks cold for up to 12 hours (this bottle is not for hot liquids). It feels good to know Erin can still have a nice drink after we’ve been out for a couple of hours that will quench her thirst and also help to cool her down a bit.

The FUNtainer Straw Bottle has an easy to push button on the front which releases the lid and the straw to drink from and this helps to prevent spills or leaks. Erin isn’t the cleanest of children so a straw bottle like this helps to stop her drinks from going all down her top! The bottle also has a handle which I am so thankful for. Again, like the lunchbag we are able to clip this on to the pushchair, making it easily accessible instead of having to rummage around in bags to find it.

Both me and Erin love her new lunchbag and bottle from Thermos. I actually didn’t know that they had a children’s range until recently. Seeing Erin’s adorable lunchbag and bottle makes me want one for myself!
