4 Budget Friendly Ways To Brighten Up Your Home

When it comes to changing things around the house I like to stick to a budget as much as possible. Spare money isn’t flowing freely around here and actually, home improvements don’t have to cost a fortune. Something in particular I hate is a dark and dingy room so today I’m bringing you some budget friendly ways to brighten up your home.

Add some colour

It doesn’t take much to add a bit of extra colour to a room. Most of the rooms in my house are white at the moment because we haven’t gotten round to decorating yet. I actually hate the rooms being all white because they’re so plain and boring. A tin of paint is very budget friendly and adding in a feature wall, or even painting the whole room if it’s not too big, is a relatively cheap and easy way to inject some colour and really brighten up a room.

Lighting

If you find that your rooms don’t get as much natural light as you’d like then maybe adding in some lights is the way to go. Floor or table lamps could brighten up a dark corner of a room really easily and you won’t need to pay for an electrician to fit them. Alternatively, a new main light fitting could be what you need or maybe the addition of wall lights could help fix your problems. There are so many different options to choose from and Lights has something for everyone.

Soft furnishings

If, unlike me, you like your walls to be quite plain in colour then maybe you can brighten up a room with soft furnishings instead. Although our living room/ dining room has white walls at the moment I have managed to add some colour with the help of brightly coloured cushions, pictures on the walls and a large rug. None of these items cost much money at all and they are easily replaceable if I fancy a change at any point. Buying some soft furnishings is also a much easier job than paining a whole room!

House plants and flowers

Sometimes, you may find that you want to be able to brighten up a room in different ways throughout the year. House plants and flowers are a great option because there are so many varieties to choose from and you can pick something completely based on your mood at the time. Larger house plants will last a lot longer than a bunch of flowers but with these, you can change the colour as often as you like. Personally, I think a lovely bunch of flowers in a nice vase can make such a difference to a room!
