When I was growing up I remember going to the panto every year at our local theatre. It was something to make a big deal of and we would usually get dressed up a bit to go as well. I wanted this to be something we could do with Erin when she was the right age, which I thought was this year.
Sadly, Covid has meant a tough year for the theatre and most pantos haven’t been able to go ahead. In other years, we might have gone to The Garage in Norwich where they offer fantastic shows for under 7s. Last year we took Erin to see My First Panto: Rapunzel and she loved it.
This year, things are a bit different and The Garage, along with The Workshop in King’s Lynn, put on My First Panto: Goldilocks and the Three Bears but with a bit of a difference. This year, you can rent the panto for either 48 hours or 3 months for £10.99 or £15.99.
I got Erin and the panto set up on the coffee table and she was pretty excited to see what we were going to watch. Erin knows the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears so it was nice to have a familiar story for her, even if it was shown a bit differently than she might have expected.
With My First Panto: Goldilocks and the Three Bears you don’t need to worry about inappropriate jokes as everything is done with children in mind. Usually you would be able to move around the theatre and noise isn’t a problems, which is why it’s so great for kids. Of course, being able to watch in the comfort of your own home has these perks too.
The Garage and The Workshop have put together a fantastic, interactive panto for children under 7 with this one and they’ve thought of a great way to get everyone involved. In this panto children will experience songs, dancing (and learning one) joining in with different parts and they can even choose options throughout as well, really allowing them to get right into what’s going on.
Both me and Erin had so much fun watching My First Panto: Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and it wasn’t long before Erin asked if we could watch it again, and teach Grandma the dance we’d learned. The 3 month streaming pass is well worth the £15.99 and highly recommended.
