Most of us are stuck in the middle of teaching our kids ourselves at home and it can be hard work. Although the set school work is very important, there are also other ways to help your children learn at home. Erin loves to build things so the Geomag Confetti 88 piece set* was an immediate hit.

You may not have heard of Geomag sets before, but there are various kinds that you can get. The basic idea is that you use different magnetic pieces to create shapes, structures etc. and they’re great for STEM learning.

The Geomag Confetti set comes with a mixture of magnetic rods and balls that can be put together to make lots of different things. The set comes with an instruction booklet so there’s loads of ideas to start with and they are in varying difficulties too. It’s great that they give you somewhere to start if you have a child who likes to follow instructions.

Erin is quite a free thinker so when she saw all of the pieces in the box and immediately wanted to just make something herself. She told me that she uses something like this at school so it was nice that she already knew how to use the pieces.

The great thing about the magnetic rods are that the size of them makes it possible to make lots of different things. You can connect them either to another rod or to the silver balls and this can really change how a creation looks. Erin really enjoyed adding different bits together and rearranging them to make a barn as you can see above.

The Geomag Confetti set allows children to not only make flat shapes but 3D creations too. Sometimes the pieces can be quite fiddly, especially as the magnets do tend to have a bit of a life of their own sometimes. It’s quite funny to try to build something only to have everything connect to each other if bits get too close.

There’s so much that you can do with the Geomag Confetti set but I would advise getting one of the bigger sets so that you can do more with it. The smaller sets are quite limiting and you’ll soon find yourself wanting to expand.
